There's another question from the interviewer regarding this. I didnt get a place in the company previously bcause i answered it wrongly

Question : There's a lot of empty vacancies in the department A. How about trying position B?

Although in my application form I applied for position A

My answer : Yes, I'll try my best in position B and will work hard to accomplish the tasks that I'll receive.

BANG! you're a goner

This is where they are testing your ability in making decisions. If u applied for A, please state firmly in your answer that u are only interested in it. Your interviewers definitely will get the first impression of you not being able to make desicions wisely.
A type that will keep on changing things in the future and definitely will waste a lot of time in projects.

Most probably other companies will ask this question if they think u are more suitable in other positions. That is good. But in interviews u have to take a chance in your answers. flex.gif

The question has no general right or wrong answer.  It depends on the company.  It is entirely possible the company thinks you might be more suited to another position.

In my case, it is definitely a screwed up question cry.gif

I got this info from my senior who's working in the Admin department.
Mostly their question are made to attack u indirectly whistling.gif

usually when they ask me why i quit, i'll tell them due to some family problem. although not all, but some will ask what family problem, and my answer is to take care of my aunt who lives alone and recently have difficulty in moving. it's not a very good answer right?
*
Maybe its better to tell them that u prefer not to mention more about your problems, Just tell them its personal matters and its already been solved.

Some companies will have sympathy on u and try to help u as much as they can. One they know thats it regarding family problems, they will stop asking and proceed to other questions.

But, if u run into companies that are hardsellling and dont accept no as an answer,
you better not answer them like that bcause they basically dont care about your personal problems. Its either u give full commitment to your work or your family.

Hi,

Why?? For those company,

1) You do not want to work for them

2)  Even if you work for them, eventually you will have problem witth the company because you need time to deal with your family.

So, honesty saves time and trouble.  It stops you for wasting time on a company that you do not want to work for..

Yup, lying will never help you much, thats why u need to check out about the company that u are going to work for - about their background.

BTW, since u have been working for 20 years +, I think u should be experienced enough to balance time between your work and personal/family matters.

Good Luck flex.gif

Hi,

I am sorry to tell you that years of experience does not help in balancing time between work, family and health.  It will always be a tough struggle...

Rawr...thanks jsm! That really helped.. laugh.gif
Another thing is do I have to shake the interviewer's hand when I walk in or do I just...walk in...and only sit when asked to. rolleyes.gif
*
It is a custom to shake hands. Show how professional u are. But be surprised if some of them ignore you. sweat.gif

When entering the interview room, just be yourself. Act normally. The interviewers can sense whether you are nervous or calm.

got scared when listened to the ' tell me about yourself' question

still remember the first time i went for an interview after my SPM

there are a lot of people that came for the interview so the process have to be done in pairs in order to save some time

I got paired with a lady. u know what happened?

All the time the 2 gatal male interviewers only asked the lady - tell me about yourself

ha ha asked me only a few questions and as expected i didnt get the job sweat.gif

but we have to fill up the application form before meet the interviewer, and the application form have a expected salary column...skip it?
*
its a bit hard when it comes to the expected salary matter when its your first time working

but if you are experienced the just lash out whatever amount u think u deserve
bcause u got the skill and experience to back up your claims

unless u good in lying about that whistling.gif

I have a question here...

I'd always wanted to ask something about the job which something regarding promotion and etc... Normally it is not stated in the job description ... These are the things I wanted to ask...

1) How long before I can expect/ask for a promotion?
2) Is there any restrictions on how far can I go based on my current degree? Do I need to do any extra courses to get promoted?

Is the questions above proper to ask to the interviewer ?
*
These 2 questions are a bit too advanced to be asked during interviews.
You havent even got the green light to work for them and its better not to ask these questions. Unless you are well experienced or have a very good portfolio to proof your existing skill and talents that most probably will show your interest in moving forward in their company. Some companies will welcome your questions because it shows how professional you are.
