I am currently having a career transition from academic to corporate.
An interviewer asked me 'why do you wanna join marketing but not financial or accounting or sales or business intelligence bla bla bla as an analyst'? and I was completely stumped and didn't answer the question   Actually I will apply for any corporate job if I meet most of the requirements especially the technical skills. I work on my own pretty much 100% of the time because no one cares and listens to me at work anyway even if the task is outside my job scope and I report to the corresponding researchers. I understand I am lacking a lot of other important skills required to survive in the corporate world such as stakeholder relationship skill. Also somehow the corporate people have a perception that those from academic is less busier and less stressful because I pretty much got asked at every interview whether I have deadlines and if I am busy.
Anyway, can anyone please give me a hand on how to best answer the question? Much appreciated
