Errrmmmm...Honesty is good but would it be better if yu can "add" or "rephrase" your answers? It might land yu a job, yu see.

Sounds sensible to me. Hopefully "Goldfries" won't be reading or visiting this thread. Better fly below the radar...for the time being. Hihihi.

Morning!

I'm not sure about this but I've been asked a couple of times before during my interviews in various companies, both MNC and SME type.

Question by Interviewer: "From your academic results & transcripts, your scholarship & active involvements in co-curricular activities, if given an opportunity in the future, would yu pursue for Masters Degree?" OR "Do yu have any planning to further your studies?".

It seems simple but I think there's a sinisterly ulterior motive when the interviewer asked me such question. There are some companies that provide Training & Development and it is claimable under PSMB/HRDF OR it shall be half sponsored by the company.

Maybe they are afraid of me bailing out once I got my Masters or my pursuant to my studies will get in the way of my work? This left unanswered until now...HaiZZZ.

Regards, Joey~~~

I don't get it, why is this "dislike" thingy being mentioned all of a sudden? What is it about? Why would the interviewer ask something like that? And what sort of questions can the interviewer ask based on who you dislike the most?
*
It could be spun off as "No one in particular". It's how yu manipulate and twist the question. Sometimes it's the interviewer's tactic to test how yu can think and react spontaneously and instantaneously.

Regretted and remorseful is out of the question? How about "felt sorry"? Too weak?

QUOTE(Cas @ Dec 4 2009, 12:55 PM)
In the US it is not okay to ask personal questions but is it okay here in Malaysia? For instance I"ve been to an interview with one bank where they asked where my husband works, what he does, if he travels, if I have kids etc. To me these questions are pointless as it has nothing to do with the position I applied for, unless of course they want to know if i'll be taking leave often. (which in any case is something we're all entitled to). What are your thoughts?
*
You have the ultimatum of not answering the questions posed. The thing is, you didn't voice up in the beginning. Surely it is deemed a privileged right to voice your concerns in a particular interview session in Malaysia, right?

QUOTE(nLz | Lanpakali @ Dec 25 2009, 11:35 PM)
Hello Guys or rather Joey who i observed to have given advise to almost all the posters enquiring, smile.gif

I will be attending an interview session with ESPN STARSPORT for an internship post. Being a sport enthusiast or rather a crazy football fan, this is very important for me as it's my first choice. I am so delighted that they invited me for interview in the first place.

During my first interview. The interviewer asked me odd questions like the "manhole cover is round" and the "9 tennis balls with the balancer" question which I later found out it is a popular question.

I would like to ask, what would be the best answer if i was asked about the example of my work? (which i don't have any) will it decrease my chances? or can i use my exam papers/exercise in my college to show the interviewer?

If the question of "what would see yourself in 10 years?" can I answer a 'reputable sports journalist' ? would that be appropriate??

And what questions are to be expected?

Please guide me sad.gif I'm confused..
*
Question 1: "Manhole cover is round"
Answer 1: It is a standardised HRM question to entice your thinking ability when you are cooked under pressure. You may want to answer them innocently and/or sarcastically by saying all manhole covers are round.

Question 2: "9 tennis balls with the balancer"
Answer 2: It is more of a mathematical question. A similar question would be "What is the similarities or differences between a discrete and a continuous probability distribution?"

If you don't have any work experience, just be honest with the interviewer. But it's good if you say something regarding your academic excellence and curriculum involvement.

Question 3:
"What would see yourself in 10 years?"
Answer 3: 10 years is way too long to foresee. (Didn't realise they are still using this "10 years" question) You may say you would still enjoy the same passion in the next 5 years. Please keep in mind this question only needs a simple and honest answer from you.

Regards, Joey

When you're asked what your weakness is, try to turn the table around. You know your weakness is a negative point indicator, right? Hence, you wouldn't want to talk much about it, right? Don't talk much about your weakness...keep that in mind.

If you can "change" this negative point into something positive, you are good to go!

1) Why are you here?
I'm here because I brought myself in attending this interview as we prompted to engage, right? DUH?! Next question, please.

2) Tell us about yourself
What do you want to know about me, in particular?

QUOTE(feekle @ Sep 21 2010, 09:15 PM)
If the interviewer asked a question: Can you work under pressure?
Put me in a microwave oven and see the result by yourself. Yes, composure is very important when one is under pressure and I believe I can cope with it.

No experience? Try and talk more about your education, curricular activities then and your characteristics as well. It is understood for a fresh graduate when it comes to interview.

QUOTE(uniquesoul @ May 3 2011, 03:17 PM)
Recently, i did see most of the job ads requiring/prefering candidates who are chinese literate in terms of spoken and written  For those who are english /malay ed, does that mean chances are low for you to be shortlisted? Is there any hope for us malay/eng ed folks in searching for a job nowadays?
No. I'm a example and I'm employed.

Yes, its still minority but when it comes to interview, their feedback to this would be, " things would have gone better if u know how to read and write chinese,". which means is a bonus and perhaps you may get 97% chance to be shortlisted among the others who are also chinese ed.
Oh really? By the way, the world is better off if you have not leaving carbon footprints all over the place. Anyway, it's an added advantage of you know Mandarin and it's definitely not the end of the world.

Regards, Joey

p.s: Please don;t be bothered by petty pre-requisites for employment. If it's not meant for you, then move along and don't look back.

If I dint get my reply for 2nd interview, should I send another re-write resume??
Why would you want to re-write your resume? A cold call is sufficient to confirm your status of application/interview.
