Recently, i did see most of the job ads requiring/prefering candidates who are chinese literate in terms of spoken and written For those who are english /malay ed, does that mean chances are low for you to be shortlisted? Is there any hope for us malay/eng ed folks in searching for a job nowadays?

Speaking yes, but written I seldom see that because most documents are in English. Unless it has business with China.

I do not see how Eng-ed can lose out in this matter. As far as I am concerned, the job ads with written mandarin requirement is still minority. What kind of industry are you looking at?

No. I'm a example and I'm employed.

Yes, its still minority but when it comes to interview, their feedback to this would be, " things would have gone better if u know how to read and write chinese,". which means is a bonus and perhaps you may get 97% chance to be shortlisted among the others who are also chinese ed.

Oh really? By the way, the world is better off if you have not leaving carbon footprints all over the place. Anyway, it's an added advantage of you know Mandarin and it's definitely not the end of the world.

Regards, Joey

p.s: Please don;t be bothered by petty pre-requisites for employment. If it's not meant for you, then move along and don't look back.

Very "racist" company... laugh.gif

I think they are picking on ur shortcoming and use that to reject ur application perhaps? If written chinese has nothing to do with the job, why such preference?

That's why these companies dont really spend time to go through your resume b4 asking u for an interview. or u may turn out to be a back up if the candidate who they desire rejects the offer.

SPM result can give later.

U should talk about how u can fit into the job that you applied or previous experience in similar position

Then ur highest qualification cert should be suffice.

You can furnish the SPM cert later. What is important is the interview. The SPM cert doesnt tell the interviewer whether u can handle stress or show ur any characteristics at all
