Guys,

Me and my friend will go and search for a LCD/LED TV with USB port and .mkv playability tomorrow, but after searching around the net it's quite a lot of info to digest.

Not to mention the difference of features of the same model tvs but in different regions (US region can, Asian region cannot, etc).


So any HD TVs that you recommend? This is my only priority. Not picture quality, blackness, sound, etc. Only able to play .MKV with DTS or AC3(A52) with USB harddisks or flash drives. I heard Samsung ones are the most flexible, but net reports are a bit varied - some say can play DTS in mkv, some say cannot. some say only series 5 can, so I dunno.

not everything, i just need a tv that can play mkv as most of my video productions are encoded in mkv as the end result. i don't need avi, or all in one for everything, sd card reader, or jpeg viewer (just make mkv picture slideshows), DVI, or whatever. no need to sound cocky ler if i were to get a usb/hdd media player, i'd need one that can open and play avi with HDV or DV avi. you know any? i guess not. let me know if you do, cause that would actually be helpful.

because i need to know which company is willing to put DTS capability by paying DTS the license fee. i thought home entertainment pros would know better.

after searching around i found out that medi@2.0 or samsung has the most supported file format. well not having DTS sucks, but i guess i can just remux my future productions to put DTS as the 2nd audio track and mp3 or ac3 as the first.

i don't think we can do that though. usually these manufacturers will only claim they SUPPORT mkv file format. doesn't mean they can play any mkv files. marketing sucks, no?

when did i want that? reread my post. i said if i were to get a media center box, be it a standalone media player or a damn pc with xbmc, id need one that can stream DV-AVI.
