QUOTE Google : Hiya Japan, we created this awesome new mobile platform called Android... Japan : Android? Google : LOL yeah Android. We even have a little green robot as our mascot. Japan : Robot? rike Gundam? Google : No, no. It's an OS for mobile pho... Japan : ah yes, Mobile Suit Armor. Ok, we make. Google : make? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « While the rest of the world were busy creating custom ROMs from the AOSP trunk, Japan totally miscued the concept and went on making real Android robots. Well, what do you expect from a land that gave us anime, pokemon, sumo and tenga eggs? Source: http://www.robots-dreams.com/2010/09/these...oids-video.html

QUOTE(dattebayo @ Oct 1 2010, 05:47 AM) The thought did came across my mind of posting it there. But then I wont get worthwhile feedbacks from Android users if I did so. BTW, did you read the article? Notice anything disturbing about it? QUOTE The robots onboard brain is an Armadillo 500FX running the Android operating system. It communicates via WiFi to an Android cell phone or PDA allowing the operator to control its movements remotely. Of course, the operator could be across the room or across the world. So, the robot apparently runs on Android (just like our phones) and is control remotely via WiFi. While creating a full size Android robot is quite an amazing achievement, the scary bit is knowing that it is possible to remotely gain control of an android device through WiFi. At the moment, perhaps only those Japanese robotic engineers would know how but along the lines some wise guy is bound to figure it out. Amplifying the risk is the lack of stringent app checking on the Android Market. There is little to stop any malicious person to upload an innocent looking wallpaper app that is packed with rogue codes that would enable him to gain control of any Android device across the globe. The Japanese android robot just showed that it's possible. So, why not? Far-fetched? Some apps on our phones may have already transmitting info to 3rd parties without us knowing it. Now, what if the traffic flows the opposite way? http://www.technewsworld.com/story/70938.html

The article showed in a very real way how advanced Japanese robotics are. This Android is made by a hobby shop that sells robot kits and their patrons regularly make their own 1kg robots. Our hobby shops sells RC toys and figurines.

This is disturbing news indeed. I just read about apps sending our data over to some telemarketing companies without out permission. It even does that while being inactive. So be careful all you guys who download and use 'pirated' apps.
