I cant seem to login to my account at all. It keep saying I provide the wrong password althought I am typing the correct password. Whats the problem?

Yeah. I would recommend gaim too, due to its popularity.
There are many other alternatives, but sometimes their depedencies kills.

Yahoo, ICQ and MSN change their protocols quite often and I believe kopete just can't cope with it.

try to upgrade your kopete. The newer version should be able to support the new protocols. Personally, i prefer kopete more than any other IMs on Linux platforms. But it's a long time since i've used linux.

Yup, it could be some version problem. Yahoo Messenger have upgraded their protocol that been used to connected to the net. So you needed to upgrade your kopete too. You ll get the problem if you use SuSE 9.1 or 9.2. 9.3 is ok. Kopete in Mepis 3.2 or Kubuntu is giving no problem too.

Err.... Kopete is a sub program in Kdenetwork package. You have to upgrade the whole package to get new kopete.

The best part of Kopete I like most is "Chat History", you always can see all of chat history whenever you open kopete. Try activate it in "Setting --> Configure Plugins"

I reckon your problem would be an outdated Kopete, since Trillian too had an update not long ago for the MSN protocol.

PS: If you recommend GAIM over Kopete, you obviously haven't used Kopete yet! It's a lot more user-friendly than GAIM.

yeah kopete rules. too bad it's running on kde only. my ubuntu doesn't have kde!?

err.i had to agree that Kopete is better then gaim..da only thing bout gaim..its popular among peepz..n the program update fast..well..it among the most active program in SourceForge..no 2 if not mistaken..
