Portal Beginners - Guide to Installation, Minimum/Recommended Requirement, Fees & Options, Rank1-30 recipes, Beginners Guide to FFXIV and many more! Only at Lodestone
Yesterday, Square Enix released some exciting new information about Incapacitation, but the sad part is the description was somewhat confusing. Because of this, myself and Zissling were very curious to see how it worked. While he was busy pummeling the mobs to oblivion, I kept him up with my extremely awesome heals. As we both found out, incapacitation is one of FFXIV's best kept secrets (until now)!
Some mobs have body parts that are highly susceptible damage, and certain Disciplines have the perfect ability to do them in. We only used concussive blow during the course of the video, but there are a vast number of skills that rock a particular mob's world. If you are curious as to how they work, take a look at the incapacitation charts from Yesterday's News.
What does Incapacitation Do?
According Square Enix, incapacitation does the following things:
* Weakens the Monster – This definitely applied to the Aldgoat Billy, as his regular attacks hit for way less than before. Sadly, the Billy was near death whenever the horns were knocked off. * Prevent the monster from using Special Attacks – This may work with Certain mobs, but the Aldgoat Billy was still able to use his charge attack. However, the knockback distance was dramatically reduced. * Influence the type of loot dropped – Not only do incapacitation effects affect the type of loot dropped, but the loot is generally better than before. The Skull Eyepatch is a great item that will easily be an upgrade for most Disciplines of War.
Things I Learned about Incapacitation
There are a lot of things I learned that Square Enix doesn't tell you about Incapacitation. Over the course of the few hours tested, I learned a few invaluable things.
* Lay off the DPS. – Let the Discipline responsible for incapacitating the mob do the job before you bring on the damage. When myself and Zissling were fighting Aldgoat Billies, the mob was near death every time the effect happened. Boss fights will probably be somewhat different in this regard, but don't overload on damage when it comes to regular mobs. * It takes longer to kill the mob. – Naturally, it will take a little while longer to kill the mob when holding back on the DPS, but trust me when I say the rewards are well worth the extra time spent. * The loot is much better. – I tested 3 different types of mobs, and you are adequately rewarded for the extra time spent. The Aldgoat Horns are all a key component in Horn Glue, which currently sells for top gil on every server. * It doesn't require a Battle Regimen. – Due to the fact that SE listed both of them together, many people have been led to believe that a Battle Regimen is required to access the incapacitation effects. This isn't true at all, end of story.
Now you should be ready to go incapacitate mobs yourself. If you need any further information, please review the incapacitation charts. Otherwise, please drop a line if confusion persists.

Markets Q. I have read that there are changes planned to improve the market system, but is there any more specific information available regarding these changes and the direction the market system will take? A. We have continued to receive copious amounts of feedback regarding changes that players would like to see made to the market system. As a result, we are planning a number of revisions and additions to the system, the first of which are scheduled to be implemented in the next one to two weeks.
Specifically, market wards will be organized according to specific item types, making it easier to consolidate similar items in the same area. Further, if an item sold within a ward corresponds to that wards’ item type, the tax incurred will be reduced. Items not of that ward’s category may still be sold, but the tax imposed will remain the same as it has up until now.
* Market area names in all cities are subject to change.
We will be closely monitoring the trends and developments of the market system following the implementation of these revisions and new features, and will continue to make further adjustments and alterations to improve player usability and convenience. For example, we are currently looking into options that will provide players with precise information as to which items are located in which market areas, or the ability to seek out specific items without the need for speaking to retainers, and more.
Also, we are now taking steps to increase the number of retainers that a character is able to simultaneously employ. Anima Q. What is the deal with the anima regeneration rate? A. During the Open Beta, anima was recovered at the rate of one point every six hours (Earth time). Since service began last week for owners of the collector’s edition, however, that rate has been adjusted to one point every four hours. Food Q. What kind of effects does eating have on my character? A. Eating food serves to temporarily increase certain stats, such as physical and magic attack power, or attributes, such as strength and dexterity. Also, there are foods and dishes suited more to the palates of certain races than others, resulting in more powerful effects.
Euro and pound is two different currency and Euro is much cheaper than Pound. BUT!!! SE screw up and paying in Euro is more expensive than paying in pound! sheesh!
1 Euro = 4.20794141 Malaysian Ringgits 1 British Pound = 4.87214213 Malaysian Ringgits
if paying in GBP (British Pound) 8.99 British Pounds = 43.8005578 Malaysian Ringgits
if paying in EUR (Euro) 12.99 Euros = 54.6611589 Malaysian Ringgits

no, you're not wrong, in fact, you got a good grasp of exchange system in Malaysia. However, banks (foreign especially) will always charge higher than quoted by BNM. Expect to pay more than what you calculate if you're using foreign banks.
I don't understand... why didn't people here use NA version in the first place? I'm happily paying USD12.99/mo.
due back to FFXI probelm =\ if we had known this, we would have taken NA instead.... =(
the registration number is 5 sequence code... it is found at the back of your FF manual. In addition to the manual, there are 2 papers slotted. 1 for your in game item which is also a 5 sequence code..
Another paper is to use for SE community in UK/US which is only 4 sequence codes. You can ignore this for now.
Remember to type in the registration code which, create a service account, then your item code.. type them here https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/. if you do not have an SE account, create first.
