Depends on what you want to use it for.

Remember, this thing only runs "converted" apps from Android that is only 2.3.3, and that's not even 2.3.5 (big difference)

knowing that, are you still willing to use it?

Ever since I upgraded from Torch 9800 to Z10, the PlayBook I owned was almost obsolete, except to to be used as a multimedia player (that also, must make sure the codecs work right)

If you want to run android apps, for example ES file manager, it must be 2.3.3 and below, which is SUPER RARE these days.

Granted, there are apps that are still being converted for the PlayBook via the apk to bar sites, but its more miss than hit.

Here is the SOLUTION to recover this Problem..

1) Download Desktop software from (http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/)

2) Install the software. and connect the PLAYBOOK.

3) you will see an error like "You can not connect, as the setup not yet completed"

4) Hardboot your PLAYBOOK by pressing +,-, Power buttons at a time.

5) Wait for a moment and just press once the power button

6) On your desktop you will a see prompt with options, "Retry" , "Update" , "Cancle"

7) Press Update. Then it will start download the update and finish the setup. :-)

Download takes lot of time. It took for me 2Hrs (on 4Mbps broadband) ...

Make sure there is no Disconnect while update is happening. else you have to restart the whole Procedure again.

Have good Luck .....

dont' think they can compete, because after all what makes any hardware tick isn't about specs, but what is "usable" down there.

I can think of many reasons BlackBerry has to work on, before even attempting a tablet, but right now, if you go on the high end market, per se, RM2000 and above, the "true" productivity tablet would be the Windows Surface Pro (even if you get a very inferior package compared to other in its series for RM2000)

Samsung wanted to break into the corporate tablet, and the asked BlackBerry to partner up. Its no surprise since

a) Samsung poached BlackBerry's (not a small number of them, quite a lot) corporate relations officers
b) Samsung poached BlackBerry's lead dev for security (for their super failed KNOX)
c) Samsung poached BlackBerry's VP for BES (again)

in short, Samsung "tried" to buy BlackBerry's tech without buying the company, and failed big time.

The partnership for Secutablet (the ultra secure tablet) is a partnership of necessity more than convenience, since

a) Samsung gloated that they would kill off BES (which didn't, and they are now running with tails between the legs back to BlackBerry to beg them to save KNOX, after they "sold" the program to Google)

b) BlackBerry would benefit on synergizing more than working against Samsung.

But then again, I don't see how BlackBerry can launch a new tablet without cannibalizing some of its handset business.

I don't see what kind of games that are available. I don't think you can install COC on this, and your kids will rage later.

for RM250 you can actually get a decent android tablet without wifi and 3g and all that, just sideload.

Its not that i'm against you buying a PlayBook, but you probably are better off buying a different tablet.

UNLESS

a) its only for movies <-- PlayBook wins hands down. The STEREO speaker is awesome. Ignore the ratio, don't worry about 16:9 crap and all. The playback on this is gorgeous. You'll probably need external players, like MX player, etc ( again. 2.3.5 gingerbread rule applies)
b) if you manage to find a 64GB version you'll want it to be your manga reading software (with some caveats)
c) there are some really silly games, but good for kids. I'm not sure if those are free or not.
d) I remember some free drawing app.
e) If you're really good in finding Android apps, find those 2.3.5 and below compatible, convert to PlayBook, you're golden.

If its anything you can think of outside the 5 scenarios, please do write down here. Otherwise, if your needs are just within these 5 scenarios, I think you got a GREAT DEAL.
