If you're talking about lagging, here's a suggestion, let the video load first, let the page settle down (you will notice this when the scrolling is smooth), then try play the video, it should play smoothly.
Agreed! The homescreen is a turn off for me too; but some of the screen actually looks good for me, like the "notes" (I think). The typing Message/Email screen is old skool, out for me.
The calendar is a bit Maemo style, the more simple format version.
