Y everyone think n8 is high end? The device wasnt meant for high end league and nokia mentioned it already that n8 is mid end devices.
*
Meego is High-end and Symbian will stick with Mid-range phones only smile.gif

QUOTE(EXkurogane @ Oct 3 2010, 11:19 AM)
Actually, High End and Mid End is just a term used to classify the phone by its price range, not really by its function/how good it is.

High ends (>RM 2k): E7, Xperia X10, SGS, iPhail 4 (this one because of BRAND only  brows.gif )

Mid-High (RM 1500-2k): N900 (was a high end, now drop liao), N8, S.Wave, Vivaz, Satio

Mid End (RM 1000-1500):  X6, C6-01, C7 (sori, less example, i dunno much lower ends bcos i dun care LOL  doh.gif )

Mid-Low (RM500-1k)

Low : Dumbphones
*
X10 is not high end smile.gif
SGS is high end
E7 kinda high-end but still it's Symbian (a little bit of a controversy to Nokia's statement)
Iphone 4 (you know lar...for the half-bitten fruit, you pay more)
Vivaz, Satio is kinda mid-low atm I kinda think all Symbian^1 devices demoted to Low and Mid-low already tongue.gif

QUOTE(dattebayo @ Oct 3 2010, 11:20 AM)
RM1.9k isn't anywhere near mid-range, unless Nokia has plans for RM2.5k "high-end" models

consider iPhone 4 is RM2290, SGS ori is RM21xx, Desire ori is less than RM2k...

Desire and SGS are considered as high-end and they priced just a little more than N8, and that's not even mention about AP set yet
*
Remember when N96 and E90 was around 3k?...I think they might be going back to those figures maybe or a little lower maybe below 2.5
anything below 2k is pretty much mid-range or if you prefer, higher-mid range tongue.gif

HTC has got some pretty decent phones too but Blackberry haih...only the BBM is attractive...besides that, I don't see the point tongue.gif
but actually if there's a community for OVI Contacts, then we get to have a online messaging features on Nokia like BBM too but nobody is using it ==lll

The status of a phone drops mah. N97 was high end but now mid end only. Xperia X10 was supposed to be SE's flagship (and so, a high end), but later got X10 Pro replace liao. E7 i heard nokia gonna put in at least 800Mhz (maybe 1Gb, who knows) and 512Mb RAM, the specs we know is not final yet. Price after tax will be like, 2.4 or 2.5k.

N8 is Nseries flagship (entertainment), E7 is Business flagship. Other phone producer din make 2 separate flagship bcos they dun care bout entertainment, they care about duo core 1.5GHZ processors to make ppl drool only ...  doh.gif  doh.gif  doh.gif Just see how suck HTC and Blackberry caneras are.  icon_idea.gif

Fanboys are defined as people rating their devices as "the highest ends" whether they are good onot.  brows.gif  brows.gif  brows.gif  Just look at iPhail 4 fans, they can iPhail 4 cam better than N8 cam i LOLed so hard. iPhail 4 cam cant even beat N82 lar.

My mom keep saying wah...quite good ah my Iphone...can do this can do that...actually I think for regular users not power users, Iphone is indeed pretty good tongue.gif

when e7 out,then buy e7
if release n8 n e7 simultaneously, either model will lack of sales.

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Oct 3 2010, 12:15 PM)
OS? What OS?
Experience in owning one:
It's a touch-based multimedia/gaming console/device slapped on with Phone function.

Well, just my opinion. I believe many wouldn't even classify it as a smartphone as in computer-like, but a smartphone as in very smart for,... well... put in nice words... simple users.
The good: It virtually can suit any types of users.
The bad: That's it, it's locked to "simple" user level, there's no room for improvement, no moderate or advance feature to turn on if they want. (Note: This is also a very smart strategy/move, go figure...)
*
Agreeable, sometimes it makes me wonder if a smartphone is actually a phone that is smart enough to make basic (not so smart) people know how to use with ease and I think Iphone is just doing that...sorry to post this in N8 thread...when my mum says her Iphone "gom sai lei wor...can do this can do that...I kinda wanna smack head but kinda wanna agree too...it's pretty smart to help a basic user to get smart through the phone, isn't that juz kinda smart? tongue.gif

will nokia try use android as their phone's os??

No...at least at the moment they are firm not to use it...but what's the point of using Android?...
Nokia has Symbian and Meego...they will sensibly not use other OS obviously smile.gif

QUOTE(EXkurogane @ Oct 3 2010, 12:28 PM)
Actually here's the problem: iP4, anyone who gets their hand on it learns to use it immediately and fast.

Symbian: Old users like me who has stuck on Nseries ver since i have the N70 (later N73, and N95), finds it easy to use and user friendly, i can custom anyway i want to make it even easier to use (custom options = more complicated = needs more processor power and Ram). For first timers who touch a nokia, you see this response "WTF is this? How do i get this and that done? How?!"

Same case when i used my friends' Samsung with Android. I gave the same reaction. But, people choose Android over Symbian becauseof raw power from the processor, but i am not impressed with Android-powered phones because of battey life. Seems like a matter of preference. For one reason why symbian can lag in older phones is because Ui is complicated compared to iOS. That's my opinion. If Sym3 can make things better by being efficient then it's fine.
*
Symbian is a heavier OS compared to the other OS (at least that's what I feel) tongue.gif
For old time Nokia users, definitely Symbian will be easy to use but for first-timer, IOS4 is gonna be freaking easy to get a hands-on smile.gif
but there's too much limitations such as no bluetooth sending, no flash blah blah blah...but no flash for basic user is ok but no bluetooth sending?...that'ss freaking b*llsh*t!@#$%^&

LOL it's so funny. Teachradar's N8 review has been heavily biased against nokia and people are bashing techradar in the comments section. Then, what happened? Tech radar removed the phone's ratings and changed the title "review" to Hands On. ROFLMAO. Seems like they admit it (in an indirect matter) and we might get a re-review by a different editor.
