I even tested the pinh and zoom...I can only say, it's bad...very bad comparing to iPhone and android...I actually borrowed my friend's android to compare it
If the camera sucks, then there's no point getting the N8. The main reason I'm eyeing this phone is because of the camera. If it's nothing short of excellent, I'll save my money for another Android.
No way Symbian^3 or iPhone 4 can customize my Android like this...
I seriously don't understand why they didn't implement smooth scrolling for the homescreen, instead of adding a delay. It's not hard! I had to program an iPhone application with pseudo smooth-scrolling (without using built-in components) and it took me about a day. Nokia had 5+ months.
And yes, no portrait qwerty? That's like a super-simple thing to program.
My only guess is that Symbian's code is so hard to maintain that even making small changes takes days.
Okay, the GSMArena test proves the N8 definitely has great camera potential.
For the UI, I still need to test the N8 hands on.
I hope Nokia won't forget this device after it releases Meego/N9. It will be good if they continue to give us Symbian^3 updates to improve the firmware in the future.
Even if the UI does suck now, if Nokia promises to not forget the loyal customers that support the N8, these customers might still buy from Nokia in the future.
GSMArena just posted up their Nokia N8 preview. I know a few of you say it's kind of laggy in the local showrooms, but the N8 GSMArena video seems quite smooth and responsive.
i know, i also seen a few videos and they are showing smooth UI, hence i actually mentioned it's possibly because it's there for the whole day, and too many people played with it, might cause some memory leaks here and there or something...
That's possible. My Android HTC Hero felt laggy after leaving it turned on for too long. But it was more the fault of HTC Sense. After I replaced the default Home application with LauncherPro, it feels quick even after long periods. One of the benefits of Android customizability.
What I'm worried about is whether Nokia will forget N8 in less than a year. Remember the N86? It was released in June 2009, but they stopped updating the firmware after less than a year (April 2010). They decided to focus on N8, and forgot about the customers (including me) who supported their N86. If they release N9 in the middle of next year, I wonder if they'll also stop working on N8 updates.
not every android phone. just super hardware phone have bad battery life
My Hero still has 50% after 2 days of use. But the screen is smaller than Galaxy S and I don't use 3G. The biggest battery sucker seems to be web browsing using WiFi.
no...not quite, at least the unit i tested wasn't..u can check my posts last night...i gave some description on the OS when i had a brief hands on on nokia
Haha yeah I read your posts last night. Just wanted a second opinion from blurboy.
ppl siok siok partying .... but we wait till neck long liao...
I notice Nokia spends a lot of money into marketing - making commercials and hosting these big events. But I notice they rarely in these commercials spend time showing the user interface. Only the hardware.
If only they spent as much effort into improving Symbian...
If you see the benchmark for Desire Z 800MHz cpu, its faster than Snapdragon 1GHz...
I think the Desire Z 800Hz (MSM7230) is better than the old Desire's 1GHz (QSD8250). But the Desire HD is using the 2nd generation 1GHz (MSM8255) so it should still be faster than Z.
If price becomes over RM2k, I might just go get Samsung Galaxy S / HTC Desire / iPhone 4.
The Mid Valley guy told be would be around 1,800. Don't think they'll change the price last minute to over 2000.
But if they do, yeah, definitely I'll be looking for another Android. iPhone 4 is a big no-no for me though. No BlueTooth, Flash or USB file transfers.
after j@i|break can do mah....and the SHatter exploit greenpoison is coming at 10/10/10 10:10 GMT time..haha
You're right, one could jailbreak the iPhone 4 and give it features it's missing. But these features come by default on Android/Nokia without rooting. And they don't void your warranty.
I don't think there's been many reviews on the 8MP cam yet. Edit: Video removed. Thanks to Deswin for pointing out that the video has already been posted.
