UI have no WOW factor, which is true and he did state "Best Cameraphone" which also true. Check his review. I would give the same point to N8.

hi guys, just back, checked the firmware, it's the retail version one 

also, i did a second check on the camera, and found out why the first time it's so sucky...the camera lens have a freaking thick layer of finger oils...so i kinda wiped it out, and tried it again...it's better.

but I really gotta complain another thing about pinch and zoom...normally with iOS or Android, the moment we pinch, the photo scaling begins, but this one is like how S60V5 behave, when u press zoom then only it start processing the image to fit the resolution...however that processing is on time only for the photo, means as long as u are at the same photo, it will only process the zoom in once. The photos have significantly less noise then iPhone 4(DUH!) and also N82, however i don think the xenon flash is actually as bright as N82..also, photo scrolling is smooth

i also tried added some widgets to the homescreen, sadly, it's fixed slot, as we all have known...and just wanna ask those who happen to know..will there be any 3rd party widgets?

also, about the transition, there's no obvious improvement in that category..rotating the screen will just fade out + fade in..
kenetic scrolling is also not that smooth, but it's significant improvement from 5800..

as for phone book..it now adds a small thumbnail beside ur name, i think it's pretty cool, provided that u have all ur friends picture tagged to your contact, that is..

sadly say since it's in pyramid, the phone is offline mode, means no test on maps, browser, and any other thing that require connection.

also, i notice that when u launch an app, the whole UI will slightly fade to dimmer, indicate that the app is launching. Overall it's actually some improvements here and there, but it's still not enough to impress people that gone to other OS..

But I heard upcoming firmware, will have qwerty in portrait mode and new camera features, thats why I would give it a chances. But don't be like N97, every firmware is a disappointment

yeah i know, but just for the sake of confirming, i just had it checked...no hard task also mah

but i think the home screen would really need major major improvements, i wont be too picky with the menu yet..
btw, i think N8 already have custom rom..read from engadget, it allows N8 to shot 720p 30FPS instead of just 25FPS, and the ability to continuously autofocus during video shots , and the picture can show uncompress version of the JPEG, which result in 11MB per picture..

hope so, but i think it would void the warranty??
but iirc the salesmen say warranty covers everything but water damage, drop damage or tampered phone(means let other people apart from nokia service centre open the phone)

well, something like less silver-ing color lar, don really know how to explain...like metal silver and plastic silver kinda difference i suppose...

for me ah, if there's green available and the color differents between the top/bottom and body aint that big, i will take that one..or maybe blue, but right now i think 9i had enough black phones(N81, N82, and how iphone 4, all black ), and silver aint exactly my color..

the site just mention it's uncompressed image, but since the demo picture is .jpg, i'll assume he meant those 100% quality exported jpegs

personally i hope there's a android rom for it...maybe can choose dual boot or whatever..since it's using the same OMAP as Milestone, i do think it's possible...hehe
then i can save money for my android device since N8 can double as both

lol...really lost hope lar, at least the lost hope to the nokia version of symbian...if there's some 3rd party that come up with awesome rom that allow high customization flexibility near to or even to android's level, i don mind using symbian...but as of right now, sorry, don think so...maybe just bring it around as GPS and compact camera...

Yea, but still not complete features (e.g. still lacking manual adjustment of shutter and aperture); though it unlocks much more control the original software, even extreme ISO which result in heavy noise. What I really like about it is the manual focus which can focus even closer than the original software. Another nice feature is the software take far far better pictures than the original software, it makes the shot looks like it's been edited by professionals. There's also HDR camera app and LowLight camera app, which does the job specificially.

Anyway, as above mentioned, if it's software, many things can be done, just whether N8 will get this kind of features. Since, it already come with better hardwares, the potential is higher just limited by software I suppose...
My worry is actually the lifespan of the battery, let's say 300~500 charge cycle depending on usage, if heavy usage possibly within a year the lifespan reduced, and what's the cost to replace the battery? Watching YouTube, to change the battery, need to dissemble the whole device first and it's pretty "not nice" experience.

Any phone can last 2~3 days if u only use for call and messaging. But thats not what smartphone are for nowadays since smartphone have browser, apps, and etc, people would ABUSE it hence battery drain pretty quick. So far, my SGS can last 1 days and a half without using any 3G, Wifi, playing apps, just messaging and calls.
