No. Not possible. Yesterday i went to lowyat to buy philips wireless headphone and i got a chance to play with CSL Android froyo tablet. I tried to login to stock etrading but it's failed with something. So i thinks its not possible. Anybody here have a successfull login to etrading website? or actually use it for buy/sell stocks?
I went through a lot of trouble trying to figure this out for my HTC Desire so I hope we can get a good discussion on this topic here.
First I assume you are talking about Malaysian stock trading. If so, I don't know of any Malaysian Brokerages currently that have stock trading websites that would be able to run on browsers on android phones.
This is because the stock websites either run Java applets that you can't run on handphones and/or they let you download executable files for stock trading only for Windows. If anybody knows of a Malaysian stock trading facililty that can run directly on my Android browser, I would be interested to hear about it.
The only other alternative that I have found so far that works on my Desire is any stock trading facility for mobile phones that run using J2ME midlets, such a Jupiter Securities (see jupiteronline.com.my).
This is where you may have a problem with the Samsung. When I was deciding on whether to buy the HTC Desire or Samsung Galaxy S, the most important thing was the ablility to do stock trading. Out of the box, The HTC Desire has a J2ME emulator program pre-installed called JBed Java that works perfectly with Jupiter Securities JAD/JAR files installed over the air using JBed Java.
The Samsung Galaxy S unfortunately does NOT have any J2ME emulators built in and searching for Java midlet emulators on the net provided little help. There is a J2ME emulator downloadable on android market but for some reason, it cannot run Jupiter's JAD/JAR files. So, that was a deal breaker for me. I ended up buying HTC Desire purely because of this.
I remember reading a thread somewhere on XDA forums where someone posted this issue and I remember seeing it being mentioned that JBed Java could NOT be run on the Galaxy S because of some missing libraries. So, I think this issue has to be brought up with Samsung itself for a solution.
I think you would face the same problems with the Galaxy Tablet, unless they have included a new J2ME emulator which I am not aware about.
Anybody else has any thoughts about this issue?
yes, the JVM has to be supported for J2EE while the J2ME Jupiter is surely possible for any phones that supports zoom~
I strongly advise u guys to ask the requirements of all securities before choosing a securities just for the sack of phone trading support~ calling or SMSing the remisier will be cheaper than not being able to efficiently trade with a phone + connectivity~ the savings is very minimal due to the cheap call and SMS rates~ besides, the investment would be better for just buying more stocks instead of a new phone~
