There is no fix for the antenna issue - it is a design flaw, and the only way would be to change the design.
If you want to eliminate the issue, you will need a bumper, case or sticker.
But most people never have a problem with it, even without a bumper or sticker or whatever.

Two thumbs up to darkskies - PMed him after reading his post above, and three hours later I went to the Digi centre in USJ Taipan and walked out with my new iPhone. No fuss, no waiting, no queues, instant processing.

Guys,
The antenna death grip issue is very much present on my new phone (collected yesterday). Very obvious.
This is very obviously a design flaw, because the way that you hold it in order to cause the death grip problem is the most natural way of holding the phone (if you are right-handed, which most of us are). So this is a definitely a significant problem that should have been addressed before the iPhone entered production.
BUT...
Other than this, the phone is simply perfect. This is my first iPhone (previous phone E71), and it is amazing. It feels like a different universe from the E71 and BlackBerrys.
The antenna problem is easily fixed - just get a bumper or a side sticker for the metal parts.
No regrets at all. The death grip issue, while very annoying, doesn't take away from the fact that the phone is otherwise near perfect.
