You guys wanna make your phone feel snappier and very responsive?

Turn on all animations then download an app called spare parts from the market. Find the animations settings in it and set everything to fast then see the difference.

You can use launcher pro to hide apps from the menu. I always use this when going back to kampung so that my nieces & nephews won't conquer my phone playing games biggrin.gif

If you buy brand new without contract in singapore the price will be $988 which is more than rm 2k already. We managed to buy cheaper because we bought it from those who bought the phone with contract. What we bought were basically ap set.

the optimizer increased the dalvik vm size from the standard 24mb to 38mb to improve responsiveness.

more cache = more responsive system but less ram for heavy apps i think. a bit like setting windows memory usage for either 'programs' or 'system cache' but i may be wrong.

but i like the speed of my xt right now. with that spare parts tweak, even with stock 720 speed, the phone is 'flying' biggrin.gif

singapore xt only distributed by starhub so i think all warranty claims should be done through starhub not motorola itself but im not sure.

if the phone is stable without JIT then the phone is fine.

1 thing i noticed with the new sbf is that the stock email app always force close. even when its not running (i ended it using the stock task manager) suddenly the email force close pops up. solution for now is to use k9 email app instead.

i just flashed the phone, nothing installed yet, straight configure email. maybe becos i have too many emails.

1 more thing with the new sbf is that it comes with a new keyboard with voice button. and we dont have to uninstall it in order to install the multi touch keyboard.

the new sbf + optimizer is quite stable. after reboot can straight use the phone, no reboot whatsoever, this with JIT installed.

the reason why i dont enable app2sd from the optimizer is becos it moves the dalvik-cache from /data to sd card. as we all know, sd card are way slower than the internal memory of the phone and by moving the dalvik-cache inside, it can affect the performance of the apps, the system and the sd card itself.

our xt have 100mb of free space both in /cache and /dev partition of the internal memory which can be used to store the dalvik-cache. /cache is normally used for market and ota updates so /dev looks like a better place. i'm making another attempt at this and hopefully it will work this time tongue.gif

the battery part is really true, even surfing with hsdpa i never get the red battery icon yet. highest temp so far is 43'c, last time it can go up until 50'c

very recommended sbf.

it's just my preference, i'm not into app2sd yet biggrin.gif

if u wanna backup your apps, just copy all the apk file inside the /data/app folder.
