this is my first time OC...i consulted my friend before OC...he said my rig capable of OC...this is the spec of my rig:

Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU @ 2.66GHz
Kingston KHX8500D2K2 2G (Hyper X)
Cooler Master 550w Gaming Extreme
Thermaltake V1 for CPU cooler

the problem here is the reading of the cpu temperature is confusing..I used everest which reading 28c-38c...while CPUID Hardware Monitor started at 56c-71c...thus i dont know which reading is true...

1.which reading i have to take as the right one

2.what is the cause such confusion in temperature reading for those applications...my friends use these applications and their temperature readings is parallel...both applications have the same reading...thus,what is wrong with mine?is it I have to setting something in the BIOS?

3.in everest my cpu multiplier sometimes goes up and down...as in the pictures sometimes x6 and another time x8...is it x6 for idle and x8 for load?

please help me here...really afraid if the hardware would damage..really appreciate the helps in coming...

thanx coz i dont know which section should i post my problem....anyway,any answer?

p/s:for the fluctuating multiplier already got the answer...it is my processor function, the multiplier are changing from 6-8...however,can i lock it to a certain multiplier?say x8 or x7?

Added on October 4, 2010, 8:46 amguys...need help here...my cpu temp now is 48c on idle and 65c on load...i OCed my proc only for 12% (from 2.66Ghz to 3.0Ghz)...still using the same spec as above...what i noticed was these temp reading are still the same either i'm OCed the processor or set it to default..the temp reading still 48c on idle and 65c on load...this is really confusing...i want to OC more as my fren can OC this proc to max(3.4Ghz) with idle temp 35c and load at 48c...but i just OC 12% and idle temp is 48c and load at 65c...it's kind a sad....someone can help me?

p/s: juz change my casing from normal ATX to CM elite 430 coz thought airflow would affect the temp but after changing the casing still the same temp reading...uuuuuuu...HELP ME PLEASE.......
