For 1 unit, that is no need to pay any tax.. Just tell them is your own unit. Own thing no need to pay tax

He will be taking MAS airline to fly to KLIA soon. He told me that he would need to declare this iPhone at the customs and pay tax on it ( but he dunno how much ).
To avoid tax, he says he will open the box, unload the contents and bring it over to Malaysia without the box (

sigh, the joy of opening a brand new iPhone box is gone ).
Does any one of you here encountered such situation before? Is it true that need to pay tax? IF yes, do you know the tax %?
Hope to have your opinion/experience on this.

Hi all,
Just wanna share this info..bought 2 iPhones from a forummer..both Singapore sets. One of them had a problem after about 2 weeks of usage. When making a call, the party on the other side can't hear me..So I called up QCD technology in Tagore Singapore and explained to them..
They requested for the Serial number to verify that the phone originated frm Singapore and agreed on an exchange. Then I asked one of my buddies who frequent Sg to exchange for me.It took him only 5 minutes of queueing and the exchange was made.According to him, they opened a new box and gave a new set..They also updated the serial number on the original box with a new SN sticker, also gave a confirmation slip to indicate the new SN and warranty expiry date.
All in all, great service by QCD Technology Pte Ltd which is the Apple Service provider in Sg,no regrets buying from Apple Store Singapore.
Rgds
