I changed from stock 15'' to stock 17'' but I didn't feel any hard ride, oversteer etc.
In fact, I am getting an average FC around 7.6L/100km which is, to my driving pattern, much or less the same with my stock 15'' before. I still am enjoying the superb ride and handling at the moment...so I dunno if I really need a gearbox re-calibration etc. |

QUOTE(soapkeong @ Oct 21 2010, 10:12 AM) Those 17'' were stock M3 2.0 rims, the owner must have changed to 18'' or something.I ain't gonna do any promo to them but I change it at GS. They told me it wouldn't hurt the warranty. 4 x 17'' + 4 x 215/45 tyres + installation - trade in stock 15 + tyres = 2.5K. Perhaps it's not the best deal you can get, but those 17'' are only 2-3 months old I reckon (the 2.0 owner's plate owner is kinda new too)... |

Thanks for the tyre v. rim comfig tools, ricolim.
I just figured out that if you really want to upgrade 15'' to 17'', u should go for 225/45 R17 tyres. ![]() According to this config, your speedometer will works the same. See also that the rolling radius and total diameter is almost the same. Added on October 22, 2010, 11:17 am QUOTE(del85 @ Oct 21 2010, 10:50 AM) Wow....how lucky u are. I want to change also. But i cannot find 17" oem rim. Wuuuuaaaaa!!!I want alsoooo!! Man I just happen to be there at the right time...if not sure the 17'' kena sambar alredi.... If u wanna order stock 17'' brand new from them / mazda, it will costs you around 2K PER tyre! Isn't that crazy? This post has been edited by furiezachs: Oct 22 2010, 11:17 AM |

QUOTE(kingamok @ Oct 27 2010, 06:48 PM) My front bonnet also a few places got the stone chip... I think there are some products in the market that u can check. 3M also has this sticker thing for bumper, its diamondbrite or something, but the price is like 1300-1500 per bumper... BTW, anyone did soundproofing M3 so far? Been to GS lately to do alignment, they also do soundproofing but the costs for 4-doors is like 280/roll. M3 would need at least 2 rolls + workmanship 200. So total up to rm760 (it can be one more roll = rm1040). That is only for the 4 doors. Cabin floor is not included (will costs more and more rm....) Anybody has done it? What brand and where? Did the door soundproofing really affect your speakers' bass sound? |

QUOTE(ssaturn @ Oct 28 2010, 10:02 AM) GS only know how to chop ppl vegetable head, should check it out from other accessory shop first.. So far the M3 sound proof is good what, why need additional sound proof le? Well bro, i personally think the undercarriage need soundproofing, since the road noise is there still. It's not that bad, but I think it would be better if the road noise can be reduced even further, simply because we don't need them at all. The engine bay soundproofing is superb; there are still people didn't realise my M3 approaching them from behind |

QUOTE(jumajuma @ Nov 19 2010, 01:58 AM) 3. Yes lousy, at least engine noise isolated nicely. Should take a look underneath the car, their metal sheet is exposed no bitumen at all!!! But I like it.. Look shining. Plan to do autofoam later on. The engine bay is superbly noise-proofed until people who walk in front of your car could not detect your M3 approaching. You yourself also will have a hard time noticing the engine sound, unless you rev it up. However the sound-proofing at the undercarriage and front fender are is very bad. You should be enjoying better sound from the speakers, with quieter cabin. Not to mention smoother ride... |

QUOTE(gahpadu @ Nov 22 2010, 12:19 AM) GS at PJ...any modification/upgrading to your ride at this shop wont void the warranty.. even from 15"-17" I could not agree less. That's the reason why they can chop you up. Whatever they did would not void warranty. I seriously need undercarriage soundproofing. For the quality of life / ride. QUOTE(Ordinary83 @ Nov 22 2010, 10:04 PM) The ride + handling is fun and engaging. The design is sleek and sporty. The interior finishing and cockpit looks luxurious. It's like a mini BMW (quoted from a car review somewhere in the net). So why not ok? Furthermore, you bought it at the price that you feel comfortable to spend. Do remember car price will depreciate anyway... Added on November 23, 2010, 10:50 pm QUOTE(joekhoo @ Nov 23 2010, 05:33 PM) Isn't the foam dampening the echo of the sound thru the cabin?I do also seriously thinking about soundproofing, but considering also the price and effectiveness, coz there are few products out there... Yeah the tire factor is quite true.
But I don't want to compromise the "potong air" properties as well. If you get quieter tires, the potong air props would be lower. That leaves you to the only option - soundproofing. Anyway its not so bad, the road noise from wira, satria or viva is 50% higher IMHO. |

QUOTE(ricolim @ Dec 22 2010, 10:24 PM) That's good enough alredi. Mine average 7.5L/100km.So did anyone get soundproofing yet? Just went over to our little bro M2's forum, they're discussing the dvd/navi screen MID...anyone had it installed? I remember in page 10 there a guy advert this device for M3, taiwan made plug n play rm2800. I asked GS for the same thing they have one but at RM5K. Taiwan made also. Maybe they all aim to be quick millionaire next year, hence the price was... This post has been edited by furiezachs: Dec 23 2010, 11:17 PM |

QUOTE(effie_woo @ Dec 28 2010, 09:46 AM) Hi all! I'm a newbie here, currently waiting for my M3, Aluminium Metallic, in allocation already. I'm so excited to get my new toy/2nd wife/ride after reading through the thread. hi there....welcome to the new addiction!if you slap the roof from inside, you will hear hollow sound which means not much insulation there. However whenever its raining it does not really sound awful as the awning or something like that... |
