DVDs and Blu Rays use different regions.

so we(asian PS3s) can play American imported Blu Rays,which are Region A.
but we cant play american imported DVDs,which are region 1 (when we're region 3)

so if you buy a Blu Ray combo pack that comes with 1)blu ray movie 2)dvd movie 3)digital copy
you cant use the dvd on the ps3

your pioneer supports HDMI in or out?

does his home theatre system have:

a HDMI IN/OUT port?
if it does, connect the HDMI from the PS3 to the HDMI IN port and connect another HDMI cable from the HDMI OUT port to the TV's HDMI IN port.

an OPTICAL IN port?
if it does, connect the optical cable to the ps3 and the other end to the home theatre.

be sure to go into settings and reset the audio options.
