How do i prevent YLOD from happening?

usually the registration for ps3 is done online or we have to fill in some kind of form during we buy ps3 from sony center or sony style??

Hi guys, need some advice here.

I've got a PS3 bought about 3 years ago when Sony Malaysia first started selling them officially. Lately, my 5 y.o. son been playing a lot on it and a problem developed. When playing any disc game, the ps3 would shut down a few minutes afterwards and theres a red light blinking. I can only restart the ps3 manually after that and theres usually a message "Your PS3 wasnt shut down properly....bla bla" before the normal start screen.

I think its a overheating problem. My questions are:

1. How much does it usually cost if i send it to Sony for repairs? Is it worth sending it since some people reported that their problem wasnt fixed when they got their ps3 back.

2. If I buy a new slim ps3, can I use my 500gb hd from my fat ps3?

noob question, will ps3 detect my ds3 if i'm not directly in front of the ps3

i connect my HT via optical cable..there is no problem with GOW collection..YES it's got sound during the red blood cell image..but NO sound for GOW 3 

direct TV = YES
using HT = NO

i don't really care about the opening sound..my problem is no sound during game play 

only GOW 3 and sports championship..no problem with GOW collection. i have no problem when the sound out from TV via HDMI cable. but no sound via home theater using the optical cable

found the solution for my problem..i have un-tick the DTS in XMB menu..now my GOW 3 and Sports Championship got sound using the HT..thanks to all 

just tick all..it's support to set the max our display (monitor / tv) can support

that's why i change my mind from white to black..putting a cloth should be no problem but pls make sure u don't cover the ventilation hole. or maybe u can get a clear skin for u'r PS3

Daikos, sifus here. My going to YLOD PS3 unexpectedly the disc player die 1st. Can anyone help tell me roughly how much is the price to repair that. Cuz I thinking straight to get new but inside current got 20+ 'ahem' PSN games.

P/S: Don't ask me how I get the 'ahem' PSN games if you duno

Why is my PS3 Slim... HDD freezing a lot at the menus there? its like every 10-20 seconds it will freeze for few seconds then back to normal

Umm.. i just bought it like a week. Yes MY edition... Izzit i have to rebuild by friend list database? becoz i notice that it doesnt load all the avatar pics...after the occasional freezing

Anyone here got over heat issue r? Mine PS3 acting gila gila liao. Play several hour, suddenly shutdown with 3 beeping sound and power LED blinking. 

CECH-2106 is older model than CECH-2506...not so sure about any other diff beside than the size of the HDD for both model...
but i think its the power consumption...like previous model, the older one use alot of power rather than the new models

it might be from your hdmi cable cannot fully support for your ps3, me also having the same problem, to make all that thing not happened, go change your settings from 1080p to 1080i,

next month i'm going to buy monster cable!!....and then change again to 1080p!!!....
