you can use back-up utility.just connect ur external hdd (formatted to fat32) at the ps3 and go to System Setting tab on XMB.after that,just connect the external hdd at ur slim and go to System Setting and copy the back-up data.as for games,u need to redload it from PSN.but new fw got System Transfer mode where u need to connect both console using ethernet cable and transfer the data.

FYI,YLOD is problem usually happen to PHAT PS3 and it cannot be repaired.if can it only temporary.so,better save money to buy SLIM if ur PHAT show YLOD symptom such as loud fan/shutdown by itself/blinking yellow light on the power button.

cracking sound is normal on slim bcoz the body parts are hot when playing.so when u turn it of the plastic and component inside will shrink after cooling down.as for lens i dont know whats the cause.some people says we cant play dvd or cd on ps3 regularly or the lens will "kaput".so far nothing happen to me lol
