just swap the new HD into the slot and PS3 will auto format it..
make sure u got a Firmware 3.5 update file stored in a thumbdrive or ur external HD..
so that the formatting/system installation can start..

if ur game is R3, better use DLC from R3..
some DLC not compatible with diff game region..

put something else in between the shelf and the console.. for my case i got this rectangular plastic cube the 8" x 5" in between and a small fan for cooling down the console..

not sure why it's only refer to wood..
for me, i just want to make the covered surface at the console to be lesser so air can flow and help reduce the heat.. this refer to the bottom of ur PS3.. u can also tried to put something at the corner of your console, like a lego cube maybe.. then pun a small fan infront of it.. this way the air will travel both from top and bottom of the console..

correct kakuta, don't blow fan directly.. dust will go in.. sorry did not make it clear earlier.. 'small fan' i refer here is the small one at pasal malam.. it looks colorful and spin with a slow speed.. gifts shop got sell this fan..

the lowest u can find is from the sellers in Games section..

the purpose? is for storing any content such as PSN games, Demos, Movies, Songs etc etc..
for my case, i'm using 500GB.. got lotsa movies and songs inside.. and i also download games from PSN.. and theres alot of demos in PSN, normally one demo is around 600mb - 1.5GB.. and those demos are free.. huhu.. whatever demos i download, i'll keep it.. just to play when i'm really bored.. it depends to a person actually.. how u make use of the hardisk..

my PS3 was having issue with the power supply..
sent to SONY SG for repairs already..
it happen last month (within a month of purchased)
this is a known but rare issue with Slim..
anyway, lucky i got 3 set of PS3

No. 1 = repaired from YLOD 80GB PHAT (got sentimental value this one)
No. 2 = 160 BLACK SG SET (currently with SONY SG having heart surgery)
No. 3 = 320 BLACK MY SET (bought at Sony Center MV since SG SET went to surgery)

too addicted with PS3.. this is what had happened to me..

last time i bought my MY Set, i ask them whether this set include the Sony Official Stand for PS3 and they said, this one where got Stand, the fat one got.. i was like.. "hahahahaha~" then summore i saja main2 ask how much for the game.. and they said "sony centre is the cheapest.. standard price around RM180 > RM220 per game, cannot find anywhere lower than that" hahahaa... i no eye see already lah.. those monkeys doesn't know a thing.. the best is.. i ask this console comes with what firmware? they said "where got firmware.. this is not computer bro.. u never play PS3 before?"

but if u connect YES to your LAPTOP/PC, then use RJ45 cable to your PS3.. it'll work..

sjn, the YES package comes with a USB Router ke? if yes, kinda good, but the YES rate is mahal lah.. whoever got streamyx, better stay with it..
