in USA, only AT&T & T-mobile have GSM service... n T-mobile is too small to be a decent partner. also in Malaysia, its illegal to lock a cellphone to any carrier, so telco have to compete via plans or coverage, not device lock-in. |

don't expect cheaper... Celcom's plans r usually same or more expensive than Maxis. better is possible... RM99 basic plan? they do have the widest 3G coverage... |

@vin_ann
keep dreaming. Celcom will charge like Maxis n provide a wider coverage. Celcom's customers are the hardest to switch out, cos they got good coverage... lower price will not always get people to switch. what is a better plan? I would like a RM88 plan, unlimited data n RM50 for calls. but no telco in Malaysia has this kind of plan. |

yeah, I've heard a rumour its the first week of October. but I doubt the plans / phone price will be lower than Digi. I'm probably gonna get Digi cos the plan is cheap n the coverage is good enough.

@jesslynn did you go look here? http://www.celcom.com.my/celcomexec/plans/index.php
you need to choose a plan there first, then only call the hotline n request data packages. |

@ctzalifah you pandai la, if you already sign 2 year contract with Maxis, then you use Celcom SIMcard, you pay twice?
unless you can find someone to buy iPhone4 with contract, n u temankan them to buy another one. reminder : all the info about buying iPhone4 is already in this forum. please don't ask questions that've been answered already. |

@sythersly my info was confirmed for a Dec 2010 launch. some clever people have been saying 15 Oct, some even 10 Oct (cos of 10/10/10) ...
I think the Dec date is conceivable, that gives Digi & Maxis around 8 weeks to grab the early adopters... buying outright in SG & then signing up a data plan only increases the TCO. I did that with my iPhone3G, spent additional RM500 on data charges alone, but that was over a 1 year period. |

@sythersly so you'll be paying RM88 for 2 years or more. what happens if in Dec, Celcom launches a RM88 plan? buy iPhone for RM1888 and RM88 for 2 years. how?
that would probably be for the full-speed (RM99 currently) data plan. your RM38 plan is just for 3G (384k) speed. |

@vampire its never a bad time for Celcom. they have the widest coverage of the 3 networks, and the most flexibility for plans n call packages.

@nabielz that's not acceptable. Apple expects Celcom to be a full partner. so if Celcom wants to create a special plan for their own iPhone-using customers... Celcom can go ahead... obviously they don't care.
if Celcom wants to be an iPhone partner, they'll need to step up |

@deepan84 please quit whining. Celcom has never officially said anything about iPhone4 ... so what do you mean 'first they say oct,... etc'? they didn't say ANYTHING!
obviously we Apple fans are not important to Celcom. iPhone has been available in Malaysia for 2+ years... SEKARANG baru nak offer plan? nampak sangat Celcom angkuh! even though Celcom has some very very good people (I seriously respect their tier2 support people. no matter how complicated, they can sort it out) ... I will probably not use their services until they partner with Apple. Its like partnering with Koenigsegg when Ferrari is selling 1000 cars per day ! |

@coolman18 why not sign another one?
yeah, I don't mind porting back to Celcom. I thought Digi would give some priority to existing Digi customers, but their system nowadays actually favours port-in. since I know Celcom will bring in iPhone4 eventually... now just have to hope that they don't expect us to pay RM2000 up-front |

some said the world is flat. some said women cannot lead a country. and recently, some said Anwar... well, lets not go there.
jailbreaking is like modifying your car. any problems afterwards is *your* responsibility to fix, not Apple or Digi / Maxis. if that statement scares you, then don't jailbreak. 'nuff said. |
