i'm a former user of Maxis. Thru my experience, data usage and coverage on maxis in Melaka (at my place specially) is non satisfactory although I use the RM88 package (i bought the 3GS without contract and subscribe to the 88 package because it's unlimited at that time. And I use my 3GS for tethering).

After a few months I MNPed to Celcom. When I want to subcribe for data package they suggest the 384kbps package for RM38/month unlimited (but of course they cap the data)but still no extra charge.

I am a satisfied user ever since and just early this year they raised the speed. Save my monthly bill from RM168 Maxis to only RM88 Celcom.

I am a happy user. I'm now in JB btw and sending this reply using my laptop tethered thru my 3GS.

To me, coverage and stability is more important than speed.

Is it really unlimited?  I've been using this data plan on my 3Gs for few months now but always careful not to exceed the 500MB quota, as I was told by CS I'll be charged upto RM250 if exceed like Maxis  doh.gif  .. If no extra charge means now I can tether to internet... Like this I can cancel my plan to switch to Maxis for the ip4.. Thanks celcom  rclxm9.gif

So far I've been using the VAS and it's truly unlimited..after the quota it will become 128kbps..

New Celcom Broadband plan at RM38 per month with max speed of 128Kbps, no contract.

user posted image

You can only subscribe it with a postpaid voice plan and data is limited to 500MB per month. If you exceed this data limit, you will experience slower speed for the month.
This data plan has been available for sometime in Celcom but it was only offered to selected customer(on invitation).

i know, hence the tongue.gif emot..normal notification just like streamyx biggrin.gif

QUOTE(koonming @ Sep 27 2010, 08:59 PM)
This is normal. Because Celcom is not official in iPhone model.

It can be fixed if u jailbroken the devices. Change some settings.

Else, u have to wait for celcom to join Official iPhone supplier and the new network settings updated from itunes sync.

Btw, i think the setting is evil.

When i was using my digi before digi official iphone supplier, i can disable the gprs charges using fake apn/username/password.

but once digi in official iphone 4 network, whatever i set wrongly, it will just go thru and keep charging me my gprs charges.

And no refund from digi as they say it is not there problem. but it is their problem as ios ver3 does not have option to switch off the gprs/3g setting.

Regards,
koonming

same with celcom..
last time using 2.x firmware on my 2g, have the option to turn off cellular data, the upgrade to 3.x, don't have, always allow data receive/send even if I set the APN to gibberish setting, now on 4.x the option of disabling cellular data reappear again. But on 4.x, iPhone 2g is unusable, have to downgrade to 3.1.2 back sleep.gif.

A burden for my wife as she currently using my 2g. Always get high charged when unintentionally open facebook or safari. Currently on 1+5 account, now thinking of upgrading the account to exec 50 just like me. Or maybe iPhone 2g has become obsolete. Upgrade maybe? hmm.gif

Gee...thx rEktOr, this is one comforting positive feedback about Celcom.  thumbup.gif  Will wait for more positive feedbacks and also see what will be Celcom's offers for the iPhone4  sweat.gif  Hopefully, by then I think I shld be able decide whether to port to Celcom or  remain with my current long time Maxis telco.

no prob..but there's been one thing plaguing me and my wife though..sometimes when we make calls, when the user at the other end answered, the call will be disconnected after 2-3 second. But then when we call for the second time it will be ok. Dunno if its Celcom's prob or our iPhones' problem.

I have the same issue! Since both if us kena then possibly celcom need to update carrier version? What I do is I just dont press dismiss and well the call does not get dropped.
Added on a 3G broadband plan to my line, no simcard change. Problem still there.
And OF COURSE I had set call forwarding off in settings.

Thanks for the info but i dont understand. Turn off gprs setting? Did you mean turn off cellular data or turn off 3G?

Spoke to celcom yesterday and found out these:

- No new plans. It will just be the micro sim card.
-RM 38 is for 500 MB if you subscribe to voice + data and then you add on the broadband plan, otherwise you get 1GB limit if that number purely only for data.
-tested speed and its 384 because I am getting 314 kbps from my new broadband plan.

Purely done on my iphone, thanks to photobucket app biggrin.gif just awesome! Used to have to use pc to upload pics!

Added on September 29, 2010, 11:11 amThe lower scores below possibly due to ym running in background. I suddenly got a ym message during testing. Probably the app was running since yesterday without me realizing.

Mine is on 512kbps..still got more or less the same result as yours

Nothing is impossible but it's too late for celcom. Most user who is waiting iphone 4 already bought it or porting to digi and maxis. If they lauching in november,  iphone 4 already cold...
*
Or they are launching it together with iPad? But still its just like DiGi last time. they launch 3GS way later then Maxis. No harm for trying IMHO.

If you really want saving, get the Power plans, not the normal ones being offered, like Exec 50, or Exec 250.

I'm on a contract P148 + 38 BIS plan. The 38 BIS plan is nothing, but the P148 is the best plan there is. Simply put, You can SMS, call until RM148 gone before you get extra charges for the extra SMS or calls you make.

The best part here is this - Internet is absolutely FREE - no extra charges and fully 3.5G. Lucky for me, Seremban not as congested with 3G users, and my house consistently hit 3MB per second download speed, which make downloading Steam games a breeze.

However, since the links to the power 148 plans from celcom.com.my are now dead, wondering if they've wised up to the plan?
*
I beg to differ..it's totally up to your usage..as for me Exec50 plan is more than sufficient as I don't use as much. But for business user who always on the go may need the 148 plan. as for me, i'm always at my cubicle, so just use my office phone business use.

so at the end, it's comes to your usage. You can't say that those who spend <50 per month get saving if they subscribe to P148 is it? in fact they spend RM90 more than before. just my 2 cent

I thought we were talking about Iphone usage here? Of course you need data plan with it, not just a call plan.

Exec 50 plans only cover SMS, MMS and Calls. Like it or not, you need to add unlimited data plans to that if you plan to surf, email and use data on the Iphone.

Say you want the 3.5G option with the highest cap, that will set you back RM98. RM98+RM50=RM148.00, but under this, you could only use RM50 for your calls, SMS and MMS.

P148, you could use the whole RM148 for it. And free, unlimited data.
*
agreed..just like my post earlier and previous previous posts..i subscribe to exec 50 + 38 data package, which is unlimited but speed cap at 500MB..its fit me well..monthly bill minus services charge is 88..hence the saving..just like i mentioned..my usage is sufficient like dat..so if i'm on P148..i would waste more then saving..hence requoting it all comes down to peference and usage.

@jesslynn did you go look here? http://www.celcom.com.my/celcomexec/plans/index.php
you need to choose a plan there first, then only call the hotline n request data packages.
*
better go to celcom centre..last time i wanted to activate my data plan, the hotline cannot activate directly, unlike maxis. the advantage is dat, when i went to celcom centre, i got the basic package which was not promoted on their website.
