some said bcoz of celcom is not official carrier for IPhone, Apple doesnt allow celcom to use facetime as u can see carrier name under Setting>General>About>Carrier : Carrier 8.0

not like maxis (MYMAXIS X.0) and digi (not sure)....i think wait untill celcom become an official carrier this problem will resolved.....hmmm wait some more......

*still waiting reply for the successful celcom setting
*
but the thing is, some users reported they succesfully activated facetime while they're in 4.1, as for myself, even at 4.1 also cant activate.. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

just got out the phone with Celcom CS, they told me that they would not support any of iphone application at the moment, even after I told them that this will be a big problem and I might jump to another carrier.

We're screwed.

You're lucky.!! previously I've tried activating facetime on my 3GS but also fails.
btw, are u using the micro sim provided from Celcom or u cut the normal sim?

don trust most CS said, sometimes they also not updated with celcom latest info.

you're most probably right, but what I'm asking is for them is to at least log my report and promise to look into that matter. Not just simply shoot me down. sad.gif

who's using facetime without jb the phone 1st?

anyhow, i think the problem is with sim card, that's the only logic explanation that i can think of right now, fyi, i've been using the same sim card that i have for the past 3 years, maybe in some weird reason, this sim cant support the facetime activation (lets hope this is the main problem). So i'm going to go to celcom branch and requested for a new sim, and hopefully this problem will be gone..

My wife's ip4 (ios 4.1 on celcom) says Carrier 8.0. Cannot facetime. Now the worse part is CALL FAILED. Can receive CALL, Can send and receive SMS. Just cannot CALL OUT. Any ideas..

Then, may I suggest reading these articles (just in case you haven't read them), and see if one of them could end your misery.

Like I have said, my Facetime is working as it should. So, I am not so sure if the solutions given above  would work on you. If one of them works, I would definitely be glad. But, one of my friends had a problem with his Facetime and found a solution from the first article. Happy reading.

On a sidenote, are your MMS and tethering features working as they should be? You might want to look at their configurations as well.

i tried almost all the methods above, but still no luck, and one more thing, my itunes does not prompt me to update my carrier settings when i plugged in my phone. fyi, im running the latest itunes and 4.1 os. icon_question.gif

The only difference I see with the new Celcom 9.1 carrier settings tht MMSC setting has an additional extension which is http://mms.celcom.net.my:80
The additional is :80
Also, the MMS Max message size defaulted to 512000
tried doing the "network settings" as recimmended by the links to recover Facetime but all the settings remained intact..can't be changed.

i thought all this while our mms settings is using the port 8080?
