don't bother with the bumper case. Look up the drop tests and they provide no protection against drops. Your phone can shatter if dropped.

I'm not quite sure on that. I just remember his exact quote and I didn't ask further on that. If you see idata plan the cost of the phone is near to buying outright though

You have to find the right guy. Not everyone have the same amount of knowledge there lol. This was on my THIRD visit. Before this all of them just say can! can! I got this answer from the young boys jaga the visitors.

I went to the counter up to the older guys there and he paused for a while, then he told me he has to double confirm. He went to the back, then went to the front and spoke to this Guy wearing iphone polo t-shirt. He was the one who told me the full story, the rule is applicable for prelaunch event only, which then tallies again with stringfellow's feedback after I asked him in V5. Once it starts selling on this sunday you can buy it outright.

I also showed him a copy of the email booking that I got. I made sure he knows I'm one of the bookers.

You were right. You were right all along! I got to someone who knew what he was talking about at a maxis centre and yes phones need to be the second one if u want to buy outright.

My friend is getting the ivalue plan and the second phone she booked I intend to buy outright using credit card under my name. Hope they don't give me a hard time for that since the credit card will be under my name.

Well the Guy in the polo shirt said ( if I remember right ) That for launch day you need to buy the iphone with an ivalue plan , then the second phone you can buy outright. Otherwise, you have to get it on 26th onwards.




That's the first obstacle (LOL) The next issue is she booked 16 GB by mistake for me when in fact I wanted the 32 GB. However I booked 32 GB as well under my my name but I don't want the iValue. I'm hoping to transfer that 32 GB under my name to switch with the 16GB .

Are these like the US sets, requiring activation through internet via itunes upon first time use?

Just received an sms which said :

"You are welcome to attend the launch, but purchase can only be made via your Account Manager who will contact you soon"

What does this mean?

I have no idea. Don't think it's the same.

Top 60 here too. I was at counter number 6, then they pulled me to counter 3." since it was empty.

Got back and I was pretty lucky. While the rest was busy trying to win prizes I just decided To stay at the entertainment corner, which happened to be right next to the registration hall entrance. Then suddenly all Everyone was crowding to get into the registration hall and I just moved quickly to the entrance.


To cut a long story short, I got to buy the iPhone 4 with the prepaid. It was actually really not allowed and I just have to thank the kind lady at the counter to be helpful. She did the right thing, in the end it was about making the customer happy.

As luck had it I even had the opportunity to be given the phone by one of the big shots. I hope my pic didn't come up. LOL! I want to keep a low profile, just in case someone else came up and challenged my purchase.

All in all I want to thank all those who have given precious info that has helped me to get my dream phone locally.-> stringfellow, tinkerbell, robin (even though last2 I ended up not cutting with you , the girl at the counter was kind enough to lend me the cutter.)

Paid full price. Bought it outright. I must stress out that this was purely luck and nego that I got to buy it outright. The first 60 was part of maxis's gambit to get good press since it was telecast. I guess that could have helped me in some way since they didnt want any trouble with the customers during the first 60.


The lady at the counter at first told me that I couldnt get the phone. Then the manager came and whispered to her that a sim pack would be coming.They didnt even prepare sim packs for prepaid since there was no such plan for it during the launch.


They were rushing to meet te 12 AM deadline because it was to be telecast. This was really a case of god helped me.

No I got a confirmation ID, they wouldn't have let me into the hall if I didn't.
