Q:  How will my friends list and rankings be handled?
A:  All account-specific data, including friends lists, rankings, achievements, statistics, titles, and unlockable rewards, will be tracked separately for each region's Battle.net servers, and will not carry over between them.

WTF is this?

But back in sc:bw days latency seems ácceptable to me
*
the disconnections were not.

back in sc:bw the netcode is running on UDP. for nowdays connection or even game (read:sc2) UDP is no longer feasible. during the beta proven it. now they are using a hybrid of UDP/TCP

Aren't you guys concerned at all about the possibility of us having above average latencies in the NA servers? Or has this issue been addressed in the pass?

Personally I would move to NA too based on the asumption that NA players are simply better than SEA player, of course, I might be wrong. There's also a huge possibility of SEA being underpopulated due to a mass migration yawn.gif
That wouldn't be really nice
*
latency isnt an issue unless you're playing at the highest level and very serious on laddering

also yes, NA players would generally be better for various reasons. one of them being that since they have vastly MORE players, chances of getting more good players would indefinitely be higher.

During the beta it was okay. Do not foresee any latency issues.

Besides, if the rumors were to be true, it seems that IAH merely maintains the Login/Profile & Achievement/A.I servers.
*
beta had terrible terrible damage lag and disconnections lol. but of course, they were experimenting with the netcode

During the initial start of the beta yes, but towards the end of the beta, the connections were decent and stable. Yes there were the random disconnects when TM was PMSing, but majority of the time it was ok.
*
true that though

Added on September 22, 2010, 10:46 amI played beta before, it seems that at times IAH server connection seems worse then beta servers
*
i played both NA and SEA.

SEA delay is noticeably lower, however, not by much. then again, SEA got this HORRIBLE spikes at random thats imo is worse than the delays of NA

yeah. having spikes was just sigh. had a TON of them during vista lasik (though no, not gonna use it as an excuse cuz it was clear that id lose with or without the spikes) and it was just not pleasant at all.

Since we're in the topic of disconnections, is it just me or does the SEA server have very shitty stability? 10% of my ladder losses are caused by random disconnections from battlenet, or maybe it's the fact that I'm using wireless =O
*
thats you using wireless.

never seem to have disconnections while i play SEA. just shitty "spikes"

in my case its just "u have been dropped"...
nvr happen on my 1v1 ladders (i only had 35 games on it anyways lol) but happen on my 3s and 4s at times...
other than that? its smooth...
so jz minor dc moments for me, no jerking etc...

in the end depends on the ip...
i always sc2 wit 124 ip over 115...
115 is spiky...
*
ALL IP same. and the biggest wonders: i get no such bullshit playing NA servers (supposedly, america further than SG aye? OLOLOLOL)

well depends on the routing rather than the location in terms of spikiness...
if u get routed to heavily congested path then its still gg  cry.gif

ps: i gonna suicide my way to bronze in US and roll nubs lol
*
so you're saying im ALWAYS routed (regardless of IP range, all 4 of them that i can connect to) to shit connecting to singapore while they give me win route to USA? good logic lol.

well i dun have the spikes u mention when i am on 124 ip...
rarely DC (do happens at times)...
so my experience was so far pretty ok...
*
your league games combined is like 200+ while im over 500 already. almost 3 times the amount you played :/
even if you considered combining customs and leagues, im at 651 while you 588.

of course, those statistics are me doing NA solely, however EVERY god damn time i go SEA, every f***ing time i get those spikes/jerks. while on the SAME IP on the SAME DAY, i go back NA, no problem AT ALL.

IP used are 60.48/60.49/60.50/118. ranges (utter shit IP)

that cant be right at all when someone in malaysia is getting more stable (not "necessarily" better, as i said, latency delays in NA is heavier than SEA) connection connecting to USA while having an unstable one connecting to Singapore. again, latency is lowered due to closer distance, however id rather take the added latency to USA if im getting a guaranteed smooth connection for the entire session.

I'm in the same shoes as you.
Same starting ip address as well.

Have tested with both and it does seem that the 124 ip gives us the best route to the singapore IAH server.
115 can be really bad until even after logging in, nothing is showing up.  rclxub.gif

I have never been able to download any maps with my streamyx line.
Always have to plug in my maxis broadband to download any custom maps.

Added on September 22, 2010, 4:01 pm

Yea. Stick with 124.
Yours does sound like PJ Subang area I think.

I'm pretty sad that those ip ranges was initially available for my area in desa petaling, which helps when you play WoW.
Ever since it got changed to 115.135 and 124.18, I had to always use tunnels to play WoW, though I have already quit that game now.
Just not sure why your ip range is terrible for Singapore. Probably routed you all the way to Taiwan and then back to Singapore.

Try a tracert to sea.battle.net and see what ip addresses you route to. That might give you an idea why is it so slow to connect to singapore.
*
speaking of maxis broadband, while its wireless connection is shit for gaming and what not, the bandwidth speed is insane lol... downloaded steam/recettear in office at 400-500KB/sec (corporate line blocking steam LOL, so had to hook my phone up)

and i live in intan baiduri, between kepong/selayang jaya area.

Damn....even kepong selayang area get that too?
My friend living near SJMC is getting that range too.
Why my area has to suffer with the weird new ip ranges....
I was getting 118.100 and 60.** ranges before this... cry.gif

Yea. It is not stable for gaming, but its awesome for downloading things.
Even streaming is great. Great for watching the day[9] dailies.
If only my line is not capped at 1.5gb.  sweat.gif
*
118 is rubbish weh lol. but the 60's are nice.

and lol at the cap. typically i have my usage on 500-600MB/month. 1 recettear only added like 700MB. lol almost killing my 1.5gb limited XD
well, hopefully it goes well. im at 1gb now, 8ish days to go, and according to meter predictions based on usage, id be at 1.2-1.4gb biggrin.gif

i swap to US server download maps over there for 1v1 then cross to SEA back and the maps are linked...

NA has easily few times the population of SEA. whos overcrowded then? lol

But no, I'm not diamond league material. Not to mention I was using Zherk the whole way, which means I tend to suck more than not.
*
im still standing by the fact that anything under 50-100 games the system may not correctly assess you for proper demotion/promotion. so if you really want to know where you belong, at least play out 50 games. if you're still diamond by then, then you're diamond

I don't understand this mentality at all. The entire point of buying the game is to ... dun dun ... PLAY the game. And the entire point of ladder is (in theory anyway) that you'll get to play the game with people roughly around your skill level.

So if your skill level is gold, but you kiasu want to stay in diamond for bragging rights, and end up ... NOT PLAYING the game ... wadafark??
