Hi guys, for the owners of x100, question for you please.

I asked for a price for new unit RM2800 with 8GB card.

Does the price drop justifies buying x100 or the extra 1k+ worth the wait and upgrade of x100s?

for your reference... i bought one for RM2870 2 months ago which includes:

X100
Leather Pouch
Ciplak Class 4 8GB SD card
Ori Hood + Ciplak cap
B+W 49mm UV filter

if u don get all these... 2.8k is overpriced.. sweat.gif

Thanks for the tips. I can look further. But main question remained, is he new x100s justifies the extra RM1k+

the x100s improves on some of the complaints that x100 have:

- better sensor (X-Trans)
- improve AF speed
- better MF system
- faster startup

and introduce alot of minor improvement

if u feel that those improvements r critical to ur style of photography, then yes it is worth the extra 1k+

the x100 is my secondary camera for candid/street photography (i have a FF DSLR) and IMO, spending 4k for a fix lens camera is  rclxub.gif ... i rather buy the OMD-EM5... tongue.gif

don get me wrong... i love my x100 because the performance it gives me at that price smile.gif

tough choice. I agreed. dumping cash on a fixed lens camera that costs almost RM4k is almost "wrong" but i dont mind to have a good camera that offers lots of manual control, good IQ, fixed lens (no urge to splash extra cash for lens), and small enough to be carry around in a back pack without much burden.

hence the dilemma, but i think probably i could wait around another 16 days or so for some early review of x100s when reviewers get their hands on it.

then decide. Does all the latest firmwares really almost iron out 90% of the quirks ppl had with x100?

decided to wait around for x100s's review and the official price. if it's RM1k from x100 and justifiable, I could bite the bullet n go for it. ^^

wondering a second hand one year old X100 selling at rm2.5k, is it worth the price? or i should get a new one instead...but i not sure how the market price...found some new price near 3.5k, do recommend

or straightly get a X100s?
*
Bro. I'm in the same boat as u. I've asked the same question a few posts back. General consensus would be new x100 should be around RM2.5k - RM2.6k range with memory card and Fuji original case.

I'm now holding off my temptation and waiting for x100s cos with the improvements and newer features, I don't mind to pay a bit extra.

guys, by little bit extra i put quotes there. which means, it should come up around RM1k plus.

for me, new one comes around RM2.6k from where I asked so if new one is around RM3.8k then we're looking at around RM1.2k difference.

If RM1.2k justifies all the upgrades for you with the new model, then i think it make sense to wait around. else, I guess x100 is a uber cool camera which you can grab now.

I just hope nothing major ruins the review of this highly anticipated camera for most of us. Keeping my fingers crossed for reviews

sure thing, i bought it from Excel photo Penang.

They gave a very nice price of just below RM3.5k, with standard package (8GB SD card and Fujifilm leather case).

I traded in for 16GB sanddisk extreme by topping up RM50.

What worries me now is the lack of a proper method to attach a filter. From someone who owns a dslr, this is kinda worrying as the camera's only lens is built in. Anything happened to it is a nail in the coffin.

Either i buy the Fuji adaptor (expensive) to attach a 49mm filter or do the double filter method by sacrificing 1 filter and remove its glass then screwing 1 at the other end.

Funny thing though, i cant seem to unscrew the front ring open to test out. its very very tight without any grip.

Any advice?

Is that the original one from Fuji? And how much is it? By putting that up I think it's big enough and not fitting into the leather case, correct?

So the X100S with standard 8GB SD card and Fuji leather case is RM34**, I presume after discount. May I ask if there is only one option in finish(silver/black) or the X100S comes in all-black as well? The last time I read the new X100S now comes with both silver/black and all-black as standard, and there is no additional charge for the all-black unlike the additional premium charged for the X100 Limited edition Black.
*
To be honest, I didn't ask as I didn't really care for the black version. I just called them up, they confirmed stocks are in, I just reserved a unit and grabbed it immediately after work. smile.gif

Actually, didn't read that Fujifilm has released any full black version for now, or was there?

A few shots I've taken...

Still reading and exploring... something tells me, I'm gonna love it more and more as I get used to the handling.

Wow, what's your thoughts on the focus speed?
*
well to be honest, I think the focusing feels fast. On par with my D90 I would say but sometimes there's definitely some hunting going on, particularly on high contrast area which is natural.

other than that, having not used a X100 before, I could not do any comparison but given the technology of phase + contrast, i would like to think it's definitely faster than its predecessor. smile.gif
