hi, may i know how do you differentiate between the truly original and the third party case?
as my seller told me , that was a orignal from fujifilm . hmm.gif
The X100 font on the strap and case doesn't match the X100 on the box. You can see from your pic. I think thats how to differentiate.

I have always used the MF to bypass the need to press the macro button. Normally I set my AEL/AFL to lock just the focus then I can adjust exposure separately.

I find that I use the EVF most of the time as it is 100% accurate and also any changes to f or exp can be seen on the screen. Maybe been brought up in the digital generation. The OVF is beautiful but can't seem to trust taking the pic without knowing what it looks like first.

Definitely EVF is a must for macro due to parallax error.

dpreview did some test on the X100 lens. Quite interesting to find how well it performs at certain apertures. The one on f8 for macro is here:

After the update, however, MF is not as reliable anymore, any workaround?

Yeah. I notice that also. Can't seem to focus within the MF focus box.... A quick check on the net and some people believe that the actual focus point has shifted down and to the right in this firmware update. I haven't tried it enough to comment but they may be right. Dunno why its like that......

Some have suggested moving the AF box up and to the left. Again, have not tried it yet so dunno.

Ohhh, just read in fujixforum, yeah man, I guess I need to adjust the focus box on MF. Will have to try that once I'm back from work.

I tried the workaround, and yeah, at the moment, manual focus works as it should, although the focus box is off center...

Congrats!!!

Did some testing with my X100 and indeed the focus point for MF is down and to the right of the focusing box. Moved the box up and to the left.... problem solved. Hope they fix this in the next update.

I went for a weekend trip to Cameron, and that focus box tweak works fine. No need to go into macro mode, I can focus easily (just like 1.13) with MF and AEL button. Hope they fix it soon. biggrin.gif

Yes, 1.21 is the latest one, thanks for the heads up.

MF focuses as it should now. The camera is getting easier to use. Fuji is real busy with the firmware updating. Its a great time to be an X100 owner now biggrin.gif

i wanted to buy the lens hood but ori seem like much expensive if compare with JJC, but JJC have two different size of mount ring for x100 which are 49mm and 52mm. Which should i buy?

Added on April 5, 2012, 9:22 amwhere can i get the soft release button??
Any Half body casing recommend??
*
I use the 49mm, depends on what you want. I think 52mm filters are easier to find. I have no idea whats the difference, other than the size of filters you can put in.

Soft release can be found on ebay.

hi , i tried download and upgrade my firmware to the v1.21 but my camera keep on telling me there's no new version firmware detected .
any suggestion on what should i do or i downloaded the wrong upgrade version?
*
Hmm, make sure you deleted 1.20 file on your pc, and redownload again, its usually a case of the download not replacing the older FW file.

Can someone guide me on how do you take long exposure shots of water in daytime? I tried with F16+100+NB filter but it was still too bright. I'm a noob with long exposures, so can anyone tell me the appropriate settings?

I'm in JB.  I bought it used.  Still got 1 month warranty left.  Will be going to JB collection center on Friday.

The 1st 3 digits is 12M.
*
I had a 13M, and got a replacement camera. My Fuji Glenmarie experience was great. My camera had SAB within less than a month, though.

Wah.. good experience ya.. hope they fix mine.. it is a great little camera.

I bought a ipad camera connection kit from machine today.  Can directly connect my x100 to my ipad and download the photos.  After I installed iphoto for iOS, can edit photos if needed..

The whole combo (x100 n ipad) is great for travelling lite.. no more bulky dslr with a laptop..
*
I'm planning to use that setup, once I get an iPad with bigger storage biggrin.gif

will check out tomorrw at shop.

Anyway, how bad is the sticky aperture problem?

I read and why it seems alot of ppl face this problem and need to send their unit for repair?
*
Once you get a sticky aperture problem, you HAVE to send it for repairs, unless you want to use a camera with F2.0 aperture only. Its a defect related to the tsunami, I think. I had the problem, and they replaced my camera, since its only 3 weeks old.

Added on April 27, 2012, 10:41 pmI dig out my dad's old school flash, (brand name: Crown), and shoot with X100, it works, but due to no TTL, i need to use the ND filter, flash compensation, and exposure compensation, iSO fix at 200, shutter at 1/4000 then only normal.

No other way to go around this?
*
Same here, I use a canon 420ex and I have no idea what's the optimal setting when there's no TTL. All I know I can't snap close, not even the flash compensation helps. Overexposure galore...
