as for my case, I think the main reason that I stay awake is because my body acknowledgethe danger if I were to feel sleepy or yawn and pump extra "uummpph"

I think it is more like they dont give you a chance to sleep not the danger. Any danger is just self imposeed. How long was your trainning? 2 weeks? ( I am navy reserve too). Forcing you to live a 30 hour day when there is only 24 hours, you will have to find back the lost hours. Taking naps during class is the most common way to get back this lost sleep.
