Just got a morning call from Digi Vendor today stating that Samsung has discontinued the Galaxy Tab and out of stock in Penang. I was anticipating to get it this week after my contract with Celcom expires. Looks like they are pulling out to make way for new customer to move to SGT2 which is rumored to release and annouce in Feb MWC 2011

The SGT2 specs are written off as fake by many websites. Whoever put these up is looking for a quick stunt to pump some adrenalin into us. Even if it is true, do not expect prising to be even close to present SGT prices which are already deem high
Saw this adapter - with it you can plug in your normal USB thumb drive and transfer files between the TAB and the thumb drive. Cost about £30 Mobidapter - the unique USB Memory adapter for mobiles/smartphones. This unique new device allows you to transfer files between your mobile/cellphone and a USB stick wherever you are without using a PC. Files can be transferred in either direction and files can also be viewed on the mobile whilst stored on the USB stick. The mobidapter takes your mobile one step closer to being a fully functioning computer. http://www.elandigitalsystems.com/adapter/mobidapter.php |

Thats why galaxy 3 is no longer offered. |

Some updates on the rom scene if you wish to push your TAB beyond the limits Samsung wants you to:
New kernel from Modaco's Paul O Brien - impressive ; you have 2 choices - kernel based on default RFS file system or ext 4. Those who have used the Galaxy S before will know that the lag fixes for the Galaxy S were solely due to changing the file system to EXT 4. Still dunno and do not inderstand why Samsung still so stubborn and adopt such a old technology of RFS for the TAB. Using the ext 4 file system will immediately boost its performance http://android.modaco.com/content/samsung-...ung-galaxy-tab/ You also can improve the TAB 's performance by installing a one click LAG FIX - just run the APK: Operates similarly to the Galaxy S http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823501 Paul has today followup his new kernel with a new rom based on his kernel - however you need to change to ext 4 file system to use it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=927429 And lastly, Chainfire and Rotohammer has yesterday released a patch to assure that it is now OK to flash roms JM6/9/A/C/D/E/F with protected bootloaders. So now you have more variety of rom choices to flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071 BTW I am one who does not believe in the saying " Why fix it if it ain't broken ". It is this bad habit of mine that I am constantly changing gadgets and/or tweaking it to maximise performance Added on January 25, 2011, 11:16 am QUOTE(klwong99 @ Jan 24 2011, 11:14 PM) You can refer here for choices : HEREThis post has been edited by benny888: Jan 25 2011, 11:16 AM |

I hear alot abt "protected bootloaders" but still blur and not really understand abt this. Due to this, i still fear to change to any custom ROM. How we know our tab contain "protected bootloaders"? Is it safe to apply Chainfire and Rotohammer way as above described? What are your previous experience flash to custom ROM? |
