NEX OWNER, TAKE NOTE!!! http://www.dpreview.com/news/1009/10092123...nexfirmware.asp quote: Version 03 addresses a number of widely-expressed concerns about the user interface as well as allowing autofocus using the 14 Sony SAM and SSM lenses with built-in focus motors. It also allows the aperture to be set for video shooting. unquote Available from mid-October, a firmware update adds fresh functionality to the NEX-5/NEX-3. Autofocus operation is now supported when using A-mount SAM and SSM lenses with the optional LA-EA1 Mount Adaptor. There’s also a new custom function that allows assignment to buttons of frequently-used functions, plus a new function to record movies with setup aperture. on a side note, the "economy" primes (35, 50, 85) are all equipped with SAM, meaning with the A-E adapter, it should be able to AF on the NEX
wonder how would be the optical performance like |

QUOTE(byed @ Sep 27 2010, 09:19 PM) Aduss.. I should have taken D90. He offered me RM3000 for d90. Im 100% confident to take d90 until this bast4rd start the Honda & Toyota analogy. damn it! seems like it is an issue with keying in the serial number, as the website is quite finicky with -, space, /, etcbro, where can I make a complain? RM500 is too much.. kalau rm 100 still can 'pejam mata' one.. i dont think if i go complaint straight to the sales person, i can get anything out of it. UPDATE: guess what, when im trying to reg my dslr online.. the sony website indicate that my product is INVALID! im going crazy because this is the most expensive thing that i ever bought!!!!! please help me cfoos! call them up, it should be a breeze to do it as long as it doesn't say "you product has been registered" then it should still be ok. took more than 1 month to settle that issue with my NEX, but now it is sitting pretty with a total of 3 year warranty |

QUOTE(lwliam @ Sep 30 2010, 01:46 PM) this kind of ppl, really gear head to the max.. that's where our quick live view would come in handyhttp://www.facebook.com/AceSoo?v=wall&stor...d_comment_reply Added on September 30, 2010, 1:50 pm well, i wouldnt say they're mad.. coz from what i noticed, winning runway shots mostly have angles that are eye level with the model. and without the advantage from the stool/mini ladder, there's hardly any place for you to stand to get that high. i have thought of getting one myself too, but only to stop myself by 2 restrictions.. 1st, those ladders are freaking expensive, 2nd... i dont shoot runway models often enough to justify myself on buying one. |

correction, there were report where ppl actually managed to overheat their NEX, mainly NEX5
but then, has anyone tested the "overheat-ability" of the newer models from canon (60D) or nikon (D7000)? |

QUOTE(Mikeshashimi @ Oct 5 2010, 09:06 PM) here's the discussionhttp://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat...35924399&page=1 reanalyzing the scenario, i found that the discussion ended 2 months plus ago and no other discussion on it came back i wonder if the v2 firmware did anything (such as improved power management) to overcome the issue? |

QUOTE(albnok @ Oct 6 2010, 06:01 PM) Mikeshashimi: Mana ada soft? NEX is sharp for me. well, like i've mentioned, the discussion on the overheating issue seemed to have died downieR: There are traditionally 3 distances. 1) lens to AF sensor 2) lens to focusing screen 3) lens to sensor/film plane All three must be exactly the same to ensure accurate focus. The diagram however totally messes up the distances and they don't match. Also, the image will appear upside-down! electron: Well I have not faced such problems with overheating with the NEX-5 in bright Putrajaya sunlight... and I was walking about taking pictures for 1.5 hours! mastering89: I like the range of the Tamron 10-24mm F3.5-4.5. ahpingko: Like Gini #1 - others not so. Batmaninkl: The 50mm f1.8 can focus much closer than the 50mm F1.4, but neither lens is a macro lens. For true macro lenses (which can magnify to 1:1 magnification) the Sony 30mm F2.8 DT SAM Macro comes in at RM7xx (from the first page of this thread.) Newbieeeee: The F58 goes for around RM10xx. probably the v2 firmware helped Added on October 6, 2010, 8:17 pm QUOTE(Mikeshashimi @ Oct 6 2010, 08:01 PM) newbieeee: i dont hae 50mm f1.8 also... coz i dont really like 50mm.. hu mikesashimi, albnok: perhaps i need to rephrase myself... the NEX is comparatively softer (less sharp) than the PEN... this is what i got from online reviews la... but to me its still very very much acceptable... its softer but still sharp... electron : no offence, but i personally get a negative vibe about sony from you.. fatnir: its absurd to say SLTs are 'less professional' than an SLR... a professional photographer is someone who makes a living by photography (coz thats his/her profession)... Heck, some people with a PnS take better pics than those wielding a high-end DSLR model. no offense taken and i don't have issue with sony. in fact, i have a a300 and a NEX3 and been using the alpha system for almost 2 years. the point on thee overheat issue, it is to educate everyone on the matter and so that ppl from other camps won't label us as fanboy who sees no evil, smells no evil and hear no evil when it comes to the NEX on the issue of image softness, it is down to the default softness preset in the camera you can bump up the sharpness by increasing the setting in camera in addition to that, the olympus is known to deliver higher default sharpness. oh ya, poisoned a friend to get NEX This post has been edited by electron: Oct 6 2010, 08:17 PM |

QUOTE(Mikeshashimi @ Oct 6 2010, 08:41 PM) haha... im apologies then... well, we dont have to look for a brand's weakness just to so we wont be called fanboys... no probthe PEN is nice as well but i just feel the NEX looks a bit more 'clean' in its construction... haha.. well.. my apologies again... as for the PEN, the feel somehow not so "right" compared to NEX |

QUOTE(iamKiet @ Oct 7 2010, 07:33 PM) I don't think so,if it's f42 replacement,it should be around the same price as current f42,just like what albnok mentioned. There are plenty of photokina2010 photos in google before getting any of the filter system, make sure your lense can take in the filter in the first placeDon't know what model, looks like a f42 replacement for me. Any UWA users here can suggest me a filter system for landscape? For example Cokin P system? Or Tian Ya perhaps? Do the filter holders cause vignetting on UWA lenses? Thanks for the info,I am FUTURE new learner in UWA |

errr... i thought SAL refers to Sony's Alpha Lense mount?
SAM means it has a kind of internal focus motor so all SAM is a SAL lense, but not all SAL is SAM equipped |
