haha his flash can be used what..

about the macro lens.. if not close enough cannot get the 1:1 eh?
*
i dont think it works that way...i think a lens have its own magnifying ratio to the subject in real life...

can always wait for sifu to clarify this tho... tongue.gif

Anly: Hmmm if Sony themselves said CAN, then go and do it. smile.gif

A55 faster, plus it can AF fast in video!

Mikeshashimi: There is already a compilation of all A-mount models:

http://www.mhohner.de/sony-minolta/bodies.php

Yes, only screw-drive lenses can get gear-stripping. This happens to the Sony 18-70mm F3.5-5.6 DT, Tamron 200-400mm F5.6 (mine), Sigmas (a certain few) and even Nikkor lenses!

Newbieeeee: I also have a Sony 18-70mm F3.5-5.6 DT, kindly donated to science (me) to open. I also have a Sigma 17-35mm F2.8-4.0 EX, also gear-stripped, but not opened yet.

wha7ever: Yes! biggrin.gif

shootkk: Yes, the Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG Macro tends to get gear stripping.

mike : SAM lenses are driven by their internal motors. They will not be gear stripped as they motors will be adjusted to a particular lens and will never be too heavy. They of course, can suffer from a motor breakdown that will render the AF to be unusable.

ieR: I thought UK price is way more expensive after conversion?

Albnok: A55v is now available in stores?
*
it is, but not that overly expensive. even ebay is only bid start from UK250, (x5 = 1250! only for nex3 D)

street price for Sony NEX-3 + 16mm F2.8 + 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 OSS = RM22xx. so calculate, even with the RRP from sony UK is 530L (x 5 = 2650myr (actualy exchange rate is around 4.9 currently)) about rm300 diff is not that bad as we think.

SAM vs SAL (vs SSM, or newer clutch or heavy circuited internal lens)

if both fall on a 20cm drop, SAM has tendency to stop working then SAL ever to get gear stripped. tongue.gif even my CZ clutch is broken in less then 1 year (lucky under warranty, the clutch cost 400+) that i NEVER drop the CZ before, today's lens has more moveable soft component that are easily to damage compare to OLD lenses. there been many reports on tamron motor stop working or goes crazy (for nikon and canon bodies, sony's tamron version DONOT have motor, so we dont hear those news here). nothing is prefect.

what happened to gear stripped is usually,
i. too powerful motor from Pro body, A700 above. they have an option to set the AF motor speed to normal, or to highspeed @.@, the reason for gear stripping in the first place.
ii. direct AF ring, those lens when AF, the AF ring on the lens rotates too, (non clutching) when u acciendentally hold the AF ring, u jamming the rotation that hurt the gear when the body motor tries to turn it... (but auto clutch lens has higher spoiled report then gear stripped ratio, but most ppl dont own that high end lens, but nikkor has a lot spoiled clutch reports, or u can go ebay, and find a lot really cheap selling canon super tele L lens, because their clutch is damage(or a lot MF only L lens due to gear stripped or broken USM)
iii. cheap plastic gear built... well, rm300 SAL1870... well, its only rm300. (no wonder canon rm300 50mm 1.8 always broken into 2 piece...smile.gif)
iv. of coz, its always happens only to that selected range of lens or batch line, 99% is due to the plastics quality they used or batch design flaw.
