8tvt: i dont think so.. IMO theres enough room to put in the top LCD... but of course Sony has its reasons...

zstan: a700 even more dinosaur la. tongue.gif

bataminkl: i beg to differ... i think sony has done really really well with its 2 DSLTs... just have enough knowledge before buying, then analyze those information that u have and compare them with your needs as a photographer. then i guarantee u u cant go wrong... if u do can always sell. haha.

is not sony follow canon & nikon.

is sony want to make sure the movie recording works very well only they put it in the cameras.

that's why they developed the translucent mirror technology, which enables AF even in movie mode.

Mikeshashimi: I was very happy when sony announce A33 and A55 and even more trill when Dpreview rated A55 a 76. But after that more reviews came out with more bad news....If take continuous frame, A55 will timeout for a long time before it can use again...then movie can only take 6 min or 9min with IS off before overheated. It seems that Dpreview miss quite a lot of problem of A55.....but sony did mentioned in photokina 2010 that A77 will be much improved but will be out only within a year.....so kstan has to wait for her replacement of A700 for another year...haha. I actually waiting for A700 replacement but I quess waitng for another year will be too long for me....sony is too slow ...

sony is slow for a reason bro... and if u want a 2 in 1 type camera... ud be disappointed either way... i suggest getting a decent body for DSLR and getting a panasonic camcorder... its not as easy to take videos with the DSLR compared to a proper camcorder... if u nit-pick the flaws of ANY camera... ANY camera will seem like a bad one.

Batmaninkl: I would prefer the A55 because it can autofocus with video quickly and shoot at 10 FPS. Plus it will take your Minolta lenses... and if you know Minolta lenses, they are good!

Don't forget it also shoots in MTS format for AVCHD videos.

The A55 can only shoot until 9 minutes with SteadyShot ON and 29 minutes with SteadyShot off. The A33 shoots 11 minutes with SteadyShot on.

shootkk: I dare say I'd scold my photographer if he takes my wine-popping shot with a tele instead of running all the way to the stage! biggrin.gif

Newbieeeee: It is a Minolta thing. When you turn to portrait mode, your status display turns with you. Hmmm I never got around to seeing if this is the case with the A33/A55 LOL.

Anyway top LCDs are quite pointless for me since you need shift your position from viewfinder to top LCD (as opposed to from viewfinder to rear LCD.)

sorry dear...malaysian weather is around 30 degree....so we will face higher chance of getting overheated....worst the test carried out by some review, after overheated....it will off for 5min....and if retake video ...it will last only 3min before overheated again...

for canon...i read one review..not sure which one..did mentioned it.....have to find that article again..haha

not really.

i don't know what to say anymore. if you find this fact disturbing, then by all means go for the canon 60D. smile.gif

Batmaninkl : Take all reviews with a pinch of salt. Also be aware that it's not really good practice to shoot video clips that goes on and on and on for minutes and minutes. It'll bore the heck out of everyone!

Try looking at music videos. They are usually only around 5 minutes in length but notice how many times the view changes and how long on average a camera angle lingers on a specific subject before the view is switched.

Even in TV, the view will switch without lingering on for very long. Rarely will you see a dialog being recorded from on single POV for the entire duration.

I highly doubt anyone will be impressed with a 29-minute unbroken footage so that makes the overheating problem really just a minor niggle no matter what the brand.
