After 2 weeks, finally decided to root and give Void a try, esp after reading the positive feedback from you guys! No regrets at all... it's great but there's just two things I noticed about it that bug me a bit...
First, anyone else on Void having trouble accessing the Market? mine seems to take forever to load, sometimes up to almost a minute, and this is when I'm connected to wifi.
Second, anyway to group the apps in the app drawer into category? I admit the original LG one was a bit of a pain to drag and drop everywhere but at least we could split it into categories to make it easier to scroll through.
Aside from that, it's an excellent ROM but I did have some scary moments flashing, esp the partitioning bit... hehehe... lucky no bricking involved...

cheers guys
*
flashing is always the scary part...hahaha! cuz somehow it doesn't work like wat the instruction tells us.

i've no problem with the market with both using wifi and 3g.

hmm, i noticed that LG's UI allow us to partition the drawer. i didn't have the chance to use that cuz i installed LauncherPRO and that eliminates the partition thing already tongue.gif when i use LauncherPRO, i put almost all my apps on the homescreens (if u read my earlier post, i did mentioned that 7 homescreens not enough for me)

now after i use void, i dunno if it's the void aura or the minimalist in me that makes me wan to keep my homescreen tidy. XD

Guys,

Did you notice that after reboot the phone, the mHz will go back to 400 mHz from 1000+- quadrant previously?

I always use Quadrant Standard to test my O1 performance and if I flash O1_boost.zip, the speed will go up to 1000+. But once I reboot the phone again, it will go back to 400+. Anyone encounter this problem and any solution?

Thanks
*
i didn't use Quadrant Standard to test the proc speed...is there other place or software we can check? all i know is that my games run smoothly lah..haha!

pretty much almost the same since i am heavy user; lots of trying out apps and configuring my widgets n homescreen, play games. usually it last a day. i stopped using taskkiller or anything similar and tried watchdog. seems to be working fine.

btw, one thing i noticed. after using void, sometimes when i restart my phone, there's duplicate apps appearing on the application drawer. anyone face this issue before? usually about random 3 apps have duplicates. wat i did was i uninstall them and reinstall them to get rid of the duplicate.

Yes, I experienced the same thing.
I thought that it's due to Applanet.apk that I installed coz it happened after I installed it.
I removed Applanet.apk and reinstalled all the applications and tried restart a few times.
The error never happens again.
*
i dun recall seeing or install any apps dat is called applanet...wat does it do? maybe i shud uninstall and reinstall everything again also if it crops up again...

Backup/Restore:
Nand Backup : runs a nandroid backup of data, cache, boot, system
Nand Backup + .android secure : backs up above plus .android_secure on sdcard (froyo native apps on sd)
Nand + ext backup : data, cache, system, boot, plus apps2sd on ext partition (old style apps2sd)
Nand Restore : browse to and select nandroid backup to restore

So, I don't care but just do a nand backup + .android secure (option 2).
I did restore it in other sd card, the phone runs flawlessly.
Just a little information for the users here,
For those who want to flash their phones to void ROM, it's recommended by the ROM's developer to do it in the following order for optimization.

*
oh crap, i just did nand backup and not nand backup + .android secure
does this mean i can't get back all the preloaded apps from stock rom?

I've been reading through this forum and something sparked my curiousity.

Say my O1 is v10c now, which is rootable via z4root. Once I got my superuser access, can I update it to v10e? Wouldn't wanna mess with custom ROMs for now. biggrin.gif

z4root also enables us to unroot our phone, yes? As simple as a click? tongue.gif
*
you can't root your phone with 10e. if u root it with 10c n then u go update to 10e, ur phone auto unroot and cannot be rooted.

Ah, that's a shame. Any major differences between the v10c and v10e?
*
i dun get any Force Close window after updating to 10e tongue.gif
but if i were u, i would just root the phone and stay with 10c until gingerbread comes out if u dun plan to flash custom rom.

it's almost like that, just that when you connect ur phone to ur pc via cable, ur phone will prompt out asking if u wan to switch to USB Mass Storage mode...enable that and your phone works like pendrive d.

i heard that this phone has high cpu usage when finger is kept on the scrfeen...is it serious?
*
it increases the cpu usage, yes, but there's a fix out there as well...though i personally didn't try it yet, but some forumers here who have used it says that it really fix it. as for me, i'll wait for gingerbread which was reported to fix that bug as well smile.gif

Hi, just wanna ask if the 2gb microSD card preloaded is it class 4?
*
QUOTE(afaidhi88 @ Feb 3 2011, 11:14 PM)
yup its class 4.
*
i thought ppl already mentioned that the stock 2GB microSD is class 2?

QUOTE(marcus20125 @ Feb 4 2011, 01:34 PM)
if you have budget, better get class 10,read & write will be faster,

class 4 16gb = around rm80-rm85
class 10 16gb = around rm140-rm150

most of the usb multi card reader will only have SDHC Slot, then you will have to put your MicroSD into the SD Adapter and put in into the SDHC slot
*
thanks for answering with clarity smile.gif though i'll stick with class 4 tongue.gif

lightningfist, after u restart, your contacts all comes back?

about the charging issue, i've no idea =/

to edit contacts, just touch n hold on to the contact that u want to edit n then a menu will appear, select 'Edit Contact'.
to delete, just select 'Delete Contact'.

to add contact, while u are at the Contact page, press the Menu button on your phone which is the left most button. a menu will appear n u'll see 'Add Contacts'.
to view phone and sim contact or any other contact such as facebook, gmail, exchange or others, press the Menu button and select 'Display options'. From there u'll see one section named, 'Choose contacts to display'. Just select which type of contact you want to be displayed on your contact list.

For your info, to sync your contacts with your facebook contacts, meaning to have their profile picture appearing on your contact list, you have to put your friend's name the same as what they put on facebook. though i manage all my contacts using my exchange account tongue.gif

hello...y i don see any improvement in void.ROM ler..still lag playin angry birds season and the gingerbread keyboard..kinda lag as well..sigh my phone prob or wat
*
dun expect it to be smooth like iphone, O1 is just running on a 600MHz chipset. it is however much responsive compared to stock roms.

though i noticed the lagness in the keyboard too after using void for a week or so. not sure if it's due to the apps i installed or not. but i find myself constantly need to use Fast Reboot app to restart all the applications like once every half an hour or so because my phone will lag and hang after some time of idling. the app that crashes is usually zeam. after removing CircleLauncher lite widget from my homescreen, it doesn't lag that much. probably too many widgets on my homescreen sad.gif

Try creating the kernel module in the setting.

Anyway, Void#echo is out thumbup.gif

mushy, need to ask u, to upgrade void.delta to void.echo, do i have to go through all the steps from step 1, step 5 or step 10?
i want all my settings, widgets, contacts and messages to be intact when flashing to void.echo. need your advice on this.

##System Recovery and Flashing##
1. Load Terminal Emulator on phone.
2. Type "su" (without quotes) and press enter, the $ should now become #.
3. Type exactly what is in the spoiler, down right to capital letters and spacing. Line by line (rotate your phone horizontally for easy view).

mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock1 /system

cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image

chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image

mv /system/etc/install-recovery.sh /system/etc/install-recovery.sh.bak

mount -o remount,ro -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock1 /system

flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-GNM-thunderg-1.1.0.img

reboot recovery

*an error will appear when you register the 4th line, it's OK so leave it be.

4. Switch off the phone after completion. Now, reboot into recovery mode by pressing and holding power button, volume down button and home button. Use volume button as up and down keys, menu button as Enter/Yes.
5. Run Nand Backup External
6. Run Partition SD card. You must do each menu available step by step (the last step would be ext3 to ext4).
7. Run Wipe All, then reboot.
8. Connect the USB to your phone, transfer the .void ROM (zipfile) to SD root. Disconnect the USB cable, and reboot.
9. Boot into System Recovery again (power, low volume and home button).
10. Select Flash menu, choose the .void ROM, and initiate flashing.
11. Reboot, and this time it will take a while (around 5 minutes for first boot).
12. Should be running on .voiD (or any custom ROM) by now.
