Dear Sifus,

I am planning to get an m11x really soon. But get really turned off with the hinge issue. How often are m11x owners having this issue. Is it a case of luck or design flaw?

Thanks

by the way, what is ur budget? hinge issue can solve by calling dell tech to change for u, no need to worry.
But so far, mine dont have problem yet
*
Yup I know tat Dell is gonna fix it but dont really like the hassle of calling them & the down time without a lappie.

Has tis issue been addressed yet? or is it a matter of time that it will give way?

My budget is RM5K

thanks for your reply

Der Sifus,

Got 2 questions:

1) Upgrade HDD to SSD

Which Brand to go for? Heard that those with sandbridge is better n faster. Vertex 2 has but always got prob. Should i opt for corsair performa?or any brand you recommend?

2) Upgrade RAM

For M15X- its DDR3 1333MHZ rite? any specific brand to go for?

Thanks

1) go for OCZ vertex 2 (must be 120GB above), in order for sandforce to perform well, 120GB is the option, OCZ have thier own firmware and the snaforce flash which had modified by them, hence it is perform better than any Sandforce in the market.

2)notebook RAM dont expect u can do anything, 1066 is good enough which the performance is not significant as well, if 1333 then 1333 if 1066 then 1066, no need to waste the money to by other brand.
If it is desktop then different story, for some of my friend which is rich and dont know how to "play" thier desktop and bought a 2000mhz RAM for no overclocking, is a waste
*
the pre configured is 1333

tot to upgrade to 8GB 1333

so its gonna be better than 1066?

is it brand specific like the apple products or can go with any brand? any brand recommendations?

thankx

hey sifus,

i just ordered an m15x n will probably get it in couple of weeks later.

while waiting 4 it, i wanted to get a crumpler. (part n parcel to be exact)

but i dont think it will fit into d dedicated lappie compartment bcoz m15x is extremely bigger than the rest of the 15inch lappies

so wat are u guys using for m15x in terms of crumpler? or any good brands u guys are using t the moment?

thanks

hey gurus,

i ve asked around about using ssd on alienware.

a lot recommended ocz vertex 2 but then was told by quite a bit of seller that the ocz has quite a number of returns due to warranty claims & checked forums over the internet & found out the same. so probally gonna avoid it.

any other brand u guys recommend? wat say u on corsair? which model of corsair is comparable?

thanks

SSD dont go for corsai, go for OCZ. or original SSD from Dell, Samsung PM800, which perform better than any SSD in the market.
For RAM, dont waste money. use back original 1
*
ok thanks for the great tip.

the ocz ssd is vertex 2 version rite?

wat bout corsair 4gb ram? tot wanna upgrade to 8gb? wat say u?

thanks
