QUOTE(deathbringer @ Sep 17 2010, 08:46 PM) lksing78, any ideas as to how to make DIY drivers for the M11X-R1 with the latest nvidia 260.63 beta drivers? i'm currently stumped as they have totally repackaged their driver. I haven try the new driver yet...as i quite like the 258.96 ver.looks like nvidia is gonna release and concentrate on optimus support only since it's still a buggy technology. it's gonna be tough luck for us R1 user....the future is very dark for us Anyway i'll post up here if I find anything... |

@M11x
I started to hear some cracking sound on my hinge again this morning Damn ,never though M11x have such poor build. The main problem is not the hinge actually but the Base cover that hold the hinge. they easily brake and the screw that hold the hinge will came out.. time to call Dell again in few month once it's get serious |

QUOTE(ff8ong @ Sep 19 2010, 11:45 AM) Sad to hear that, that is another guy pm me about the hinge problem as well. so i can say ur also come wit the WWAN cable rightBtw the r2 screen replacement is still working fine after they replace it for 2 week. When the technician open up my old LCD screen, the hinge is complete mess, extreme loose And can see it is going to crack very soon. yup mine use R2 monitor as well...but the base cover are still R1 so the problem eventually will come back like mine... planning to DIY the base structure after the warranty finish. by applying harden cement to it...usually cement are use for repair the car engine block hope that will do the trick... |

QUOTE(awyongcarl @ Sep 19 2010, 10:28 PM) Sorry my friend, I don't know lol. yah the hinge it self made out of metal which is the same material as the car engine block (or maybe ironman armor For me, the impression it gave was, "This hinge are built to lasts" lol. Just imagine, a laptop hinge, made of the very same material as an engine block is made. (Well, older engine block, newer and modern are using aluminum) I'd say just use the laptop normally, don't abuse it and..I think you should be fine. (Sure it's sturdy, but it never mentioned it's meant to be abused so...) but the hinge it self are screw in a cheap made in china plastic base. so when the plastic base crack due to high tension force the hinge will came out.. at least that wat i see when they change mine hinge and the base cover.. Added on September 20, 2010, 11:15 am QUOTE(alvinkhorfire @ Sep 20 2010, 11:10 AM) Guys, any advice given is very much appreciated. In term of overall performance in Alienware M15x laptop, which of these two graphic card is much better? 1GB GDDR5 ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5850 or 1GB GDDR3 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260M? @awyongcarl
adoi...i though we talk about M11x nah m15x and m17x won't have such problem lah...the base cover is strong enough to hold the hinge. that is why i'm thinking changing to m15x..but the size that hold me back i can't even bare to carry my 3 year old 15' hp anymore let alone m15x This post has been edited by lksing78: Sep 20 2010, 02:28 PM |

QUOTE(rc2x @ Nov 12 2010, 08:08 PM) Sigh, my m11x start to make some noise already, cracking noise when closing the lid. Not as smooth as before when close the lid. The famous m11x hinge issue. I may sound sarcastic but congrats doodWHY cause u gonna have R2 monitor with WWAN antenna as a replacement from DELL now u can slot in the broadband sim card in ur M11X and surf away for those who haven claim their M11xr1 monitor ...start torture them before the warranty expired.. |
