You guys really need to realize that we, the customer are being ripoff.
Then again..Malaysia lol.
Most customers themselves don't exactly know what they know or, what they are doing anyway.

But..yes, I agree with you. Don't like it, don't buy it.
It's so so so so so soooooooo true, I can't deny that.

But to all M11x owner, I hope you all realize that this is clearly Dell being retarded and, do your part to complaint them.
Can't believe a faulty expensive crap are being sold and shipped despite all the complaints the customer filed.
And FFS, if you felt happy just because Dell replaces your brandnew laptop with a refurbish LCD, grats lol.
*
for me, i know that m11x has a hinge problem but still i buy it bcoz i trust dell and their service.... my old office use bunch of dell servers, laptop and desktop and each time there is a problem, they will come and resolve it. though this depend on wat type of warranty did u purchase... usually they will be at site on next business day...

its juz like iphone 4... they have those signal problem thingy but still people buy them... and this is bcoz they trust the brand...
even if its a faulty expensive crap but there still people buying them... and there's people like u, who have intention to buy them...
i rather pay 4k++ for a laptop which i'm satisfy with although it has a hinge problem rather than pay 4k++ buying a laptop that im not satisfy with, crappy service and all...

Lol, why are you getting fired up?
Obviously I'm directing the owners who have, or at least potentially have that problem.
And no, no improvement has been done. You can choose to be blind though.
I mean just google and read up forums. It's all there.
Then again..if you want to be a fanboy, no one is stopping you.

And when did I ever said something about being perfect?
A hinge gave up for few months of normal usage is not called "imperfect", it's called flawed, faulty, defective, whichever that you think fit.
SmartS.
*
i'm an owner of m11x and mine do have the potential of having the problem. if hinge got problem, i'll juz call dell and ask them to replace... if it happens again, i'll juz call dell and ask for a replacement again... as long as its under warranty and i dun have to pay a single cent... wasting my time for warranty? no, as long as the problem solve, no complain...

Lol you are a fanboy. I can say that straight now.

I just want a laptop with proper hinges that will not fail me every 3-6 months. Is that too much to ask for?
if you say yes, god bless you lol.

I'm obviously not good enough nor qualify to complaint, cause I have not even order the laptop yet.
I have no problem spending a fortune, for good reason, but for a laptop that fails frequently, not so wise I'd say.
And because I've been observing this issue since the day M11x was launched, I'm angry sad.gif

Everyone's gotta vent out sometimes. Forgive me.
*
dude... really... u got issue... go get help...
fanboy?? thank you...
everybody vent out, but they don't insult others...

Hmm well I don't think calling one Fanboy is an insult.
I mean if you really like one products/brand, you just can't help it can you?
I'm always called by others that I'm a Sony fanboy even though I'm not, just because most of my gadgets are sony lol. What do? Heh.
I never take these as an insult. And if you are not, sure you can deny, by all means.  laugh.gif

Loving one products even though it sucks, neglecting all the negatives and obvious flaw on the most crucial and basic stuff, is my definition of Fanboyism.
*
its not the fanboy that insults me... nvm dude.. i dun like to argue with people... u do ur thing ,i do my thing... good luck in getting ur m11x later on...
p/s - but i was an AMD/ATI fanboy... mwahahahahahahha....

Disagree me on what?
I sure did noticed the low pole-rate touchpad when I got my M15x.
Yeah they fixed it. Took them long enough though.

Your point?

Anyway, I think comparing a semi-defect touchpad which can be easily fixed by using a mouse, and a hinge that is going to fail easily, not too fair is it?
*
aik? tak abeh2 lagi? dude... everyone on this tread know about u dissatisfaction for m11x... complaining here won't change the fact that m11x hinge is a huge problem... summore the way u r saying it, its like those who bought m11x are idiots knowing that it has a hinge problem yet, us m11x owner still buy it from dell (this is what i meant by insults)... if u r that angry, juz dun buy m11x... go get other laptop for ur mobility usage... u have a lot of other choices out there... why complain when u can forget about getting m11x and go get other brand of laptop?

im still going to disagree with you awyongcarl, for example on M15x and M17x if you notice there were some issue with the laggy touchpad.
its been going a while till dell find out and fix it, they come out with latest BIOS and tauchpad driver to solve this issue.
when i had this issue on my M15x, it was seriously bugging me.
err... i think its better we stop arguing with him... its not getting anywhere... hehehehe...

Have you looked into increasing the surface area of your copper heatsink? I'm currently looking into purchasing copper slabs (thin one) which can be added to the existing copper pipes to increase surface area and help reduce the temps a bit more......
*
has anyone tried lapping the copper for the proc cooler on alienware? instead of using copper which absorb heat, shud try using alu since its dissipate heat...
copper base (absorb heat) -> alu (dissipate heat)... but still need a good fan to blow the heat off...

+1  rclxms.gif Thanks for your explaination which clears away my doubt.

Since I have bought an Alienware laptop, I am thinking that I want to save some money, so that I can buy an Alienware desktop in the future. Then again, if I want to have dual graphic card setup, I have to invest at least RM 10000. With just RM 6000, anyone can have dual graphic card setup in a custom-built desktop. Needless to say, if I were to say that I have bought an Alienware desktop , at least anyone from Hardware Q&A would condemn me for being stupid.

So, it is kind of saddening to see many Americans that can comfortably purchase Alienware desktops while we Malaysians do not share the same fate. Perhaps, I may not have a decent chance to purchase an Alienware desktop at all.  cry.gif

QUOTE(Cheesenium @ Nov 3 2010, 04:50 PM)
If you say like this, we are all stupid then as we spend 6k+ for a laptop that will even lose to a 3k custom made desktop.Whatever man, as long as we are happy and satisfied with what you have. I think we dont really need to care about those people.

At least we can move ours easily, despite it's a 5kg monster.
*
those people shudn't compare desktop with laptop. we pay more for the mobility. pay 6k+ for a desktop which is big and weight almost 10kg while pay 10k for a laptop which weight about 5kg++ and u can bring it around anywhere...

I am planning to get an m11x really soon. But get really turned off with the hinge issue. How often are m11x owners having this issue. Is it a case of luck or design flaw?

Thanks

mine too... juz need to be extra careful with m11x...

QUOTE(alvinkhorfire @ Nov 4 2010, 03:28 PM)
Yes, I know that custom-built desktop is more worthwhile than OEM desktop. It is just that I am not knowledgable wenough to built one oneself. Sure, you can get a recommended specification for your budget from Hardware Questions & Answers. However, a PC is more than just processor, RAM, hard disk, video card and so on. You need to know as well the proper brand of thermal paste, heatsink, fan, etc.

I am sure that I can just ask any Lowyat retailer to build one desktop for me, based on the specification I want. Some of them may claim that they know everything, but they may have wrongly installed some components and caused damage to your system. I may be unlucky enough to stumble upon unscrupulous retailer. Suppose that I want to have Brand A in my system. The retailer may just installed Brand B which is inferior in quality and similar to Brand A, in order to gain more profit. I may not realised it, until it is too late. Plus, certain things, like warranty, is not standardized. The retailer may earlier claim that every component is under 3-year warranty, but when you come to claim warranty in the future, the retailer may try to beat around the bush and claim such components are not under warranty. Thus, you end up paying more than you should.

For advanced computer users, DIY desktop is the way to go. For someone who is not so computer-savvy like me, it is better to go for branded desktop. It is safer and standardized.

It is okay. I am collecting information here and there about Alienware desktop. It is just my intention in the future, so nothing is confirmed yet.
*
actually u can get help from other forumer to buy a custom desktop. heck, if i have time, i can help u also. in my opinion la, better go for custom desktop. its future proof, easy to upgrade in the future. DIY pc are not juz for the advance user... normal user like u can also build one...
u dun need to know the proper brand of thermal paste heat sink or fan. u can juz use normal ones for a start and later u can explore more about the thermal paste and stuff... retailer may claim the component not under warranty but u have other sources to help u claim the warranty for the component if its still under warranty by paying a lil bit of money...
