Guys, any advice given is very much appreciated. In term of overall performance in Alienware M15x laptop, which of these two graphic card is much better? 1GB GDDR5 ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5850 or 1GB GDDR3 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260M?

Thank you for your information.

Sorry my friend, I don't know lol.
For me, the impression it gave was, "This hinge are built to lasts" lol.
Just imagine, a laptop hinge, made of the very same material as an engine block is made. (Well, older engine block, newer and modern are using aluminum)

I'd say just use the laptop normally, don't abuse it and..I think you should be fine. (Sure it's sturdy, but it never mentioned it's meant to be abused so...)

yah the hinge it self made out of metal which is the same material as the car engine block (or maybe ironman armor laugh.gif )
but the hinge it self are screw in a cheap made in china plastic base.
so when the plastic base crack due to high tension force the hinge will came out.. smile.gif

at least that wat i see when they change mine hinge and the base cover.. sweat.gif

Thank you for your reply. It is quite confusing to see some contradicting reviews.

Notebookcheck: GTX 260M is better.

Tomshardware: HD 5850 is better.

I really do not know which I should trust. I am hoping to have a more clear cut answer. rclxub.gif

Talking about m11x?

Well yeah, except that M15x's hinge base (the base that the LCD hinge is screwed on) is made of cast iron as well.
And you don't need me to remind you M15x chassis is made of Magnesium Alloy.

nah m15x and m17x won't have such problem lah...the base cover is strong enough to hold the hinge. sweat.gif

that is why i'm thinking changing to m15x..but the size that hold me back hmm.gif
i can't even bare to carry my 3 year old 15' hp anymore let alone m15x

both of this GC is same, not much different. the performance different is not significant.
5850 u guys check in tomshardware is desktop version which is totaly different from the mobile version, the mobile version of 5850 is around destop5570-5670.
If u need CUDA/PhysX got for Nvidia(got better driver support for smooth gaming)
Ati cheaper and have same performance(sucks driver support)
For DX11, dont think about it, if u wan try DX11, go for M17x 5870 would be nice, when a game u cnt full detail, DX 11 is useless

Thanks for the tip. Just what is the specification of M15x R1 and of M15x R2? The one advertised in Dell Malaysia website is R1, right?

NVIDIA - reasonable performance with convenient driver to support it...
ATI - performance looks good on paper... but with the drive it's crap...

Conclusion... NVIDIA FTW~ thumbup.gif

m15x got good display? my xps screen just normal lcd. so when I doing photoshop, have to check at an angle because sometimes the white, is not pure white, thus when I print, got ugly marks.

currently eying for future gaming/performance laptop.

for this situation only macbook is ur choice, because it has good calibration for colour and view angle(best among the laptop LCD)
FOr RGB LED offered by dell, is over saturated, so when u print out the colour lagi teruk
