1 - yes sudden shut down for laptop is more or less likely the same as desktop.

2 - you might face corrupted file but nowadays most of the software are equipped with autosave within certain time interval, so no big deal.

3 - yes if you occur improper shut down frequently, its a great chance for your Windows to be corrupted. same things goes when your Windows installing something after you update it. if sudden shut down occur during that process, just prepare for the worst.

4 - not sure about mobo's failure, but personally i do think its possible. better safe than sorry mate.

5 - because some people think using DC together with battery will shorten battery lifespan. i don't give a crap about that, i love my mobo more than my battery
