there are no more update for the ranger program? damn..almost end of month ler...don tell me they only kick off after the product launch eh >.<

but bloggers all suggest early october...and that's not that far away...

well...i think she should...if the product is launching at early october, then the shipping date should be confirmed since there's less then 2 weeks for the sales..

just that...the waiting has been quite some little time, and it's killing me...

since last time apple is saying mass sales for iphone 4 is on end of september, and people are already talking about msia getting them at that time too...Nokia? just get the new Symbian^3 series out as fast as they can and sell them cheap...that should stop people from getting iphone 4...

ram is NOT phone memory....phone memory is basically your built in memory, C: drive. RAM is different, don confuse yourself

put it simple, it's like out RAM and HDD in computer. IIRC Symbian stores internet cache on C: drive, so when your C: drive runs low, and there're no space to stuff the cache, you will get that error..
if you are out of ram, i remember the error is something like "Out of system memory, please close some application....". Phones like N81 have around 30MB+ rams on fresh boot iirc, and 30MB is not that much for multitasking, and it's really small for web browsing as well.

have u tried installed task management tools like JBTaskman before to your phone? if you did, i think that app can help u in tracking your available ram.
i was a N81 user before i changed to N82, so i understand what you are saying. N81 has really little internal memory, after installing ngage + nokia maps, it really has around 5MB left. I am not too sure about your situation as i never installed nokia maps 2.0 last time.

restarting your phone doesnt really affect your phone memory(C:) apart from the caches...as i mentioned, a fresh boot for N81 after v21 firmware is around 30MB RAM available to use, as for how much is left on your phone memory, it's entirely based on what you have installed.

as for your situation right, i really not sure, maybe you can try use apps like jbtaskman to monitor your ram usage first.

yeah, MAPS is stupid, cannot choose where to install....but andy, why do you need MAPS on N81? u have external GPS module izit? if you don, i recommend you uninstall it..

well, some rough explaination la..

when an application uses ram, it would need to register the address to the system, and that portion of ram would be allocated for the application only, no other application can access it. Normally, when the application finish using it, it would free the ram from its usage. memory leak is when the application did not free off the ram that is no longer being used by it. Since no other application can access it, the usable ram would become smaller, and the ram taken by the application that is not free would be 'forever' lost...until you restart the device that is...

actually, it gives you sharper text, you notice that despite the higher resolution, all the text and icons size did not change. Steve Con. Jobs mention that the pixel is directly x2 of the width and length of the 3GS, so upscaling on iphone 4 would just means pump in 2x the pixel to the text/icon, just making the image sharper, which i think it's rather cool...well, too bad it's iOS

Added on September 20, 2010, 3:29 pmsince it's still allocated under the certain application, i don think so..in some scenario, even when the application is terminated, the memory it used would still be allocated for it..maybe ram booster can clear those off..
but honestly, if you feel that you phone is too laggy, just restart..i mean...how hard is it?

just found the word, the font increased 2x, but the font/icon DPI also increased 2x

i am just merely pointing out the fact here...it's like how fHD resolution in 15" looks way sharper then 720P in 15" laptops..
