QUOTE(dattebayo @ Sep 20 2010, 10:57 AM) iPhone 2G - N95 iPhone 3G - N96 iPhone 3GS - N97 iPhone 4 - N8 during the time the first iPhone came out, people bash it and prefer N95 as a do it all device, then iphone 3g release with AGPS, while N96 was rubbish, after that 3GS vs N97, no one even bother to compare these two although N97 gained some initial hype but not after its been launched, will N8 repeat the same history as N97 or N96? Apple despite being a close source platform, grow alot in the past 3 years, so do Android, where has symbian been up to re-structure: iPhone 2G - N95 iPhone 3G - N96, N97 iPhone 3GS - N8 iPhone 4 - N9/N9.5

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Sep 20 2010, 01:04 PM) Here's something else I wonder: N97 - 128MB RAM? After fresh boot, it's around 50MB++ (Phone memory)? Can't remember the exact amount. N97 Mini - 256MB RAM? After fresh boot, it has more than 100MB++ (Phone memory). Why does the RAM affects the Phone Memory available? ahhh... u wanna know more?? For N8: 256Mb RAM = D3000 = COMBO POP4 2Gb DDR (RAM like pc ram, use by OS only not for storage) 512Mb ROM = D3000 = COMBO POP4 4Gb MuxedModeMemory NAND = C: drive (can be use) and Z: drive (read only)

and then itu external microsd saja saja corrupted easily in the tube... I'm running some verification though on the memcard... found we better dont use Windows to format the card as the default sector size use is smaller then the phone use (4kb vs 32kb)... hope this flaw not impacting the N8...

LOL Means, bigger memory, the better. some apps utilize the C: drive, although we install it into the memcard the C: will getting lower and lower with more apps installed...

QUOTE(Leo the Lion @ Sep 20 2010, 02:16 PM) If the phone memory is huge say 4gb~5gb, it won't have memory shortage. But since phone memory is used for core application, then 3rd part application should be install in either internal memory or external memory. kiam siap punya nokia with kiam siap punya memory...

QUOTE(andrekua @ Sep 20 2010, 02:19 PM) Oh ya... Internal memory, LOL... Phone vs Internal... But since you already know the problem liao, its hardware limitation, why still sad? it's funny how the device memory distribute, just wonder why they not just treat the 16Gb as phone memory... 512Mb ROM => Z: 256Mb RAM => no need to show lah (sakit hati saja when keep seeing it getting low) 16Gb => C: since it's already internally connected....

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Sep 20 2010, 02:33 PM) so if install in phone memory should it reduce seek time? What if install in internal memory? What's the different seek time between phone memory and internal memory? If we understand this it will help improve lagginess right sifu? the C: is hardwired but the 16Gb is through interface... QUOTE(Andy214 @ Sep 20 2010, 03:01 PM) Hehe, thanks for your time and also those that help to explains. I think someone can list down in details each part and also the error for easier reference or confused people like me. Example: like what sklchan listed each item and it's explanation Then the types of error message, like Out Of Memory Or Memory Full, what else? Many people also confused with Internal/Mass Storage with Phone Memory; It doesn't matter if they get a 16GB model VS 8GB model or SD card model (e.g. the older generation Nokia which have either option only), the low Phone Memory problem is still there. only IF nokia change their policy... Added on September 20, 2010, 3:03 pmfuyoooo... Android in N8 loh.... http://www.shanzai.com/index.php/bandit-ga...out-of-thin-airThis post has been edited by sklchan: Sep 20 2010, 03:04 PM
