Hi all,
a quick question.. a)possible to use normal mini usb cable(that not original from htc) to connect to pc/charger?..
b)can we use 240v to USB port converter charger(pasar malam type) to charge our HTC device?
any1 tried it before?kindly share it..it's that harmful to HTC device?
..for example..if we used the not origin cable from apple to charge iphone..it will cause damage ...how about htc?
Thanks in advance for the reply and answer

a) I think it's micro USB...not mini USB
b) Not sure about "pasar malam" type, but I got one from Best Denki and have been using it when I'm traveling - not sure if it's harmful but I think it's alright

I was replying based on the fact that the TS mentioned "HTC Desire", so yeah, it's microUSB

they can be output 5V 500mA or 550 mA or 1000mA doesnt matter
but what matter is how clean the output is or how close to 5V it really is. cant really tell all these actually

Most of the USB charger out there pushes 800mA to 1000mA (iphone charger pushes 1Amp) and they do charge a lot faster. But i think i once read somewhere that charging battery with higher Amps shorten the lifespan of the battery.

HTC Devices use USB miniport or microUSB 2.0 depending on the device. Its safer to use this cable and charge from your computer than charging using the pasar malam chargers. Bear in mind, those cheap chargers do not have surge protection, can trip easily and if short circuit happens, your phone may be electrocuted. These chargers also do not have overcharge protections and can damage the battery very fast. Its fine if you just have to use it for a couple days if you're waiting for the original charger. But don't prolong use it

I spent several thousands for the phone, I think RM60 for an original cable is nothing, plus it comes with peace of mind.
I chose peace of mind over several ringgit. Or thousands :-)
