also get a proper cleaner for the job..string & fret lubricant isnt a cleaner. The issue is removing the dirt not lubricating it??!!

stick with the dunlop combo cleaner & conditioner its good.

I found microfiber cloth is also good to use to remove stubborn tarnish on the frets too

you can lightly scrape away the gunk with a razor blade or a piece of card. Just be careful not to cut into the rosewood.

I saw guitar tech use a hard sponge/foam like this...i think much easier to scrape all the dirt without harming the fretboard

Sorry for hijacking this thread.

But my strat guitar is maple neck, Polyurethane Finish as said on the specifications, also mentioning about satin finished maple neck.

It is white face fretboard, so how to clean this?

I have another guitar here, Cort.

I really like the neck feel somewhat like "laminated" like it was laminated in plastic.
It helps my action fast.

How can I make my strat guitar feels like the Cort neck, fast, solid, smooth and shiny?

Thanks... notworthy.gif

Lemon oil? I've no idea what is that. sweat.gif

BTW, I went to one guitar shop and the sales assistant recommends me ghs FAST-FRET.

Was it a good idea to maintain the "whiteness" of my fret?

I'm using this for my acoustic guitar. You can find this in any Guitar Store outlets, not only cleans but also as conditioner for the fretboard / bridge. This brand also comes with String Cleaner and (soap based) Polish, and none of them are wax based so you don't really feel kind of coating on the guitar.

Despite the name lemon oil it is not actually oil from a lemon..
It is actually a petroleum based oil that was formulated to clean the fretboard..
Not sure what you mean by "whiteness" but fast fret is for the strings only..
Another way is to use steel wool to scrape the dirt off the fretboard then apply the lemon oil..
Let it sit for like 5-10 minutes for it to absorb into the wood then wipe the excess off..
Then you will have a "brand new" looking fretboard..

Most of fretboard face is black which is easier to take care like my Cort.

But my stratocaster fretboard face is white, original wood colour.
I want to retain this colour I mean.

I afraid the oil or the fast fret give it a brownish colour later. sweat.gif

That is not original wood colour..that is a maple fretboard which is the same material as your neck
What I mentioned earlier is rosewood which has a dark reddish kind of colour..and rosewood is more common I guess
The grain of maple is tighter than rosewood so it is not that easy for things like that to seep through the wood..
And if you have not done anything to the fretboard yet then that maple should have a lacquer finish unless you bought without it or you remove it
If stains and any kind of inks get to the fretboard then it is going to stain badly..
If afraid to use fast fret then use lemon oil if fretboard not lacquered..
Wear and tear will eventually make it like this..then you get a relic stratocaster brows.gif

Fretboard don't worry..that's the charm of a maple fretboard
Depending on how long you've been playing and how frequent then the wear of the frets will be faster..
You can go luthier ask them to crown your frets..or better still do fret dressing
I can do it myself but I feel that if you can spare a little bit of money get a luthier to do it..it is painstaking to do it fret by fret
If worn till the point that need to refret then consider getting dunlop 6105
A lot of those custom shop strats put this on their guitars
Ask around the forum for a reliable luthier..the only one I know of is that guitar doctor at times square but always not around and I get the feeling that its lousy

Seems like its the fate of maple fretboards to be worn out like that. Would you guys scallop the neck or file it down some more to make the fret appear new/clean again?

Here's some idea... get the whole new Fender Stratocaster neck.

Then put it on our guitar body... It would be a unique custom guitar... laugh.gif

p/s: Me my self don't know where to get the original one... Maybe dma0991 know? Bro? notworthy.gif

Why la you want to sell do like that..nice la stained maple necks
Fender is the only guitar company that I know of that is able to destroy a guitar and sell it for 10x the money and you are undoing it
Besides those necks don't have the Fender logo on the headstock..so far I couldn't find the waterslide Fender decal so I can put a Fender logo there
Warmoth got sell..Guitar Fetish also got but quality not that good I think
IMHO don't replace the neck unless broken in half or warp..it is the guitar's identity an other necks may not feel right
If not mistaken Yngwie Malsteem trades guitar necks with other people.. laugh.gif

I haven't done anything...
So there are no real Fender neck sold separately?

My guitar is Squier only... But luckily the sound okay and comparable to the real Fender.
Maybe I'm just lucky enough because never a guitar have the same quality even from the same model or brand... Right?

RM400 for a neck? blink.gif
Really? Fender neck?

Aren't they suppose to be.... more expensive? Since the guitar it self is RM3K at least?

dude, you forgot to read the other half. BY MIGHTY MITE.

anyways, if i were to get a fender, the last thing i'd be bothered about is the neck. the aesthetics looks so much better worn out than brand new, imo

It is licensed because there are copyright issues if simply put the Fender logo on the headstock
Check Mighty Mite and see that even their necks don't have a Fender decal because if they put then everybody with a cheap guitar want to brag can just put their neck and you get a MIA Strat already..

I did ask from someone about fender necks, you can only get a replacement if you can prove to them if you're current Fender neck is broken or something. Need to give serial number. Then have to pay almost RM1000.

^ I think neck and the body of a guitar affect the most of tonality. Is like japanese made and american made is entirely different. i purposely chose the japs one cuz of the tone is more to my taste.
