hi sifus,

i just got back from a game with my tennis partner.. tried a new racquet today.. a much heavier racquet than my previous wan.. what i found out that it has more feel and the racquet weight helps me to put more power to my shots even when i am not balance.. when using my previous racquet, i realized everytime when i am out of position and attempting to take the shot.. it will not go pass the net.. perhaps i need a more heavier racquet to help me on this.. do correct me if my assumptions are wrong.. and also i would like to know, what advantage does smaller headsize racquet has over a bigger headsize.. and how string patterns affects play?
please help me out..

@ vobs

thanks for the reply..den what would be the difference between power and acceleration?? haha.. last time i heard lighter racquet more power.. heavier racquet more control...

but smaller headsize smaller sweetspot.. what do u mean by open pattern?? 18x20? 16x18? 16x19?

Yea. Nice meeting u as well. I'm sure me and my fren benefited from our short yum cha session. Thanks for your time and your racquet. Prolly will post a review for the benefit of other members.

@vobs
Yea. The racquet is in superb condition. When he say 9.9/10. He really means it. Haha. I bought a Dunlop Aerogel 4D 200 from him.

Just tried my Aerogel 4D 200 today. Overall I can see big improvement in my serve. My serve accelerate faster now and I would assume is the follow thru from the heavier racquet compared with my previous light racquet. In terms of control, it does provide better control and I can place my ball better now. And also, there is more solid feel to my game and I'm loving it. However, sometimes I tend to overhit it. Is it due to the racquet being strung at 48lbs? It seems fine when I used my frens Aerogel 4D 200 which is strung at 55lbs. Stroke wise has also improved. Perhaps the weight from the racquet helps me with my swing. I can see more consistent stroke. One more question. I have trouble taking high bouncing ball. Most ppl told me to take it on the rise but till today I can't seem to get it right. Normally I would just brush the ball down but seems wrong to me. Sifus pls comment. Kipas kipas!

Haha. Thanks everyone for the tips and encouragement. In regards to the string tension. Ill stick to 48 lbs first. Very sayang la if got and change the strings now. Maybe its not the string but my swinging pattern. Maybe not used to it yet as I've been using light racquet for some time. Dun worry vobs, I'm straight. Haha. So better not back off. Haven't absorb enough knowledge for u yet

I prefer double backhand. Used to use single but then kev advised me to start with double backhand. Haha. That time still fresh tak tau. But as I play longer I felt double backhand helps me to be more consistent. But the downside is lower reach and takes more effort in doing a swing. Goodside is more power and more gaya for me. Cause use more effort so got more shiok feel. Haha. And also I'm a follower of Djokovic. Haha. Having an idol is important la for me cause it helps u to be more motivate and have the feel that ure him. Haha. What do u guys think of Djokovic anywyay?

Haha yea man. His Head Youtek Speed. Hehehe. I thought u just got urself a BLX. Haha. Hand gatal d ah wanna get another one. Hmm.I used to be like you also. Damn gatal wanna buy new racquet. But a word of advice its not the racquet. Its you!! The racquet might suit someone but dun suit you. So I would suggest to try it first or stick with ur BLX and understand urself first. Its a big investment in such and exp racquet. I remembered PMing u to have a meet up for some hits. Perhaps after my exams we shall play at Jln Duta.

Reporting from RSH warehouse sale. A lot of Aero Strike there at 50 percent off. From far I thought its APDGT at 50% off. Almost sms vobs to tell him d good news. Mana tahu is Aero Strike. That guy ask me what model I looking for. I said APDGT. He say if got sell in warehouse sales he will go kill himself. Also got Kpro Open and many other K Factor series, Prince O3 also have. Mostly racquets 50 percent discount but their range also ard 600 to 700 before discount. Other tennis stuff are like Babolat shoes RM150 after discount. Adidas shoes 125 after discount (I bought this), Reebok also around that price. Lotsa Babolat tennis bag 6 series around 319+ before 40 percent discount. Babolat 3 series around 200+ before 40 percent discount.

Since I can smell dead silence. I shall start something here which has been always a curiosity for me. Well, I can see ppl like vobs going for a new weapon. What makes u guys decided to change racquet (not sure whether this applied to klboy cause he only loyal to APDGT). Haha. For me since I'm a beginner, I change cause wanna improve my game and I really can see the difference once getting a new and improved racquet. But some of you all played for quite some time d and decide to change. Is it because of wanna have a different feel (I.e. Experimenting) or because wanna be ahead of everyone when new racquet is out (biomimetic!!!!). Haha.

Yea. And very useful as well. Thanks a lot! More forumer shud try posting the reasons that they change racquet for the benefit of others who are going to change racquet. Anyway just want to add smtg, sometimes good deals comes by and hand become itchy. Den go and buy and try. If dun like still can let go cheap cheap. Or if its okay. Can use as backup racquet as well especially good but discontinued model.
