Olympian or Titan?

I was putting quite a high hope on the game months ago.
But when I first started to play it, to my surprise, I couldn't rotate my view to any angle, which is a bit....., well, not too bad actually. Just that building, surrounding are 3D, characters look 3D, but the lack of rotating the view doesn't make it a 3D game. So, I consider this as a 2D? Or is there a way to rotate your view to any angle in game?

The gameplay is definitely not bad, considered the RvR is held several hours once, so there is no timezone issue for those staying in Asia.

You can actually move in 6 directions

Ragnarok Online is a 2.5D as the surrounding is 3D but the character design and mob design are 2D.
The character in Legend of Edda is definitely designed in 3D, look at the 3D model in the character creation screen.

You know...the angel looks nice and in most of the game, I often choose the light side over the dark side. Just like how I did in Cloud Nine Online, chose Primus over Ganav.

And seems like the chat filtering system is kinda buggy. I wanna set my party channel to accept only party chat but still it accepts others also?

I know there are pk and non-pk channel in this game. Yesterday when I came to know that although Frosty Wind Valley is a pk-able map, if you wanna level up and farm safely in that map, you gotta go to channel 4 or 5 (PvE channels). However, in pk-able map in channel 4 and 5, though you won't be killed by the other nation, you simply don't get any drops which do not favour players who love PvE solely. I looked further into the other maps of the game and came to know that it is only in Frosty Wind Valley that both the nations will meet up and it doesn't happen in other games. So, I consider this tolerable, still okay for PvE lovers.

Not too sure how the future of the game will become, if they would implement more maps like Frosty Wind Valley, I do hope that they will enable drops by mobs in non-pk channel. I feel that there should be a balance between PvP and PvE and even if no, a game should favours 60% towards PvE. Considered the player pool who loves PvE, take maple story for example, a game that doesn't have PvP at all, the population is huge in Malaysia and yet it can still survive in Malaysia for so many years. Take Runes of Magic (U.S server) for example, they got 5 PvE servers and 2 PvP servers, clearly shows that players who love PvE carries a larger share.

I don't mind to go for war, but sometimes I would like to level up or farm peacefully in game. Especially after a tiring day from work, I would like to enjoy a nice game, not by getting killed in pk-able maps because of trying to farm some mobs' drop. I understand that I don't have the right to overwrite the original intention/purpose of the game. But I feel that the opportunity is there. Big head, small body chibi style look, a better version (in term of graphics) than maple story, who knows it might attract more PvE lovers?

Afterall, it's a challenge to balance up PvP and PvE. And I believe many players are reaching the level cap, it's also a challenge on how to keep players stayed in the game, maybe come up with an update, expand the world map by introducing more dungeons and PvE features and increase the level cap a bit, or introducing new classes. Haha, what a challenge.

You are right about that. Consider assassin is already less favorable for a dungeon party because they got no AOE. Imagine you party up with 3 assassins to go for higher level dungeon, so many mobs and you really need classes with AOE to clear those mobs off. So, having no AOE skill is already a disadvantage to assassin.

Assassin was shining in war due to their OHKO assassinate skill. Without assassinate skill, now they don't shine in war and yet they are always being the less favorable class for higher level dungeon party. Quite an outrageous and sad news to those who are playing assassin and even having assassin as their main character.

Conclusion:
1) No AOE : dungeon party doesn't want you
2) Cannot OHKO: you are not as good as you were in RvR

So, when people said to you:"You can't AOE, you can't OHKO, so what do you want me to say?".
Just do like what William Hung did in answering Simon Cowell's question when William Hung auditioned for American Idol.

Well, that's for the joke. Seems like Legend of Edda wanna overturn the image of assassin as a deadly killer in Ragnarok Online.

I believe none of us is using HSS to play Legend of Edda.
You might be running Legend of Edda behind an installed Firewall or Antivirus.
Usually, Firewall or Antivirus tends to slow down the kick off of the patching process.
So, you might wanna add these 3 files into your firewall or antivirus safe list to for bypassing purpose:
EddaClient.exe
Launcher.exe
Executer.exe

HSS = Hotspot Shield

It's a vpn client tool which allows you to connect to a predesignated virtual private network which hides your real WAN IP while surfing or connecting to a game server. It's a tool which most gamers use to bypass any game server that implements IP region block. However, I believe that's a bandwidth limit usage per month for using that tool. Probably after 1GB or 2GB of data transfer, you won't be able to connect to HSS until next month.

For Hypit Cave (the lowest level dungeon), yea, you can solo it when you reach level 20+ and the higher level you go makes life easier. Of course you must be an AOE class like warrior, swordsman and archer (not for wizards as they are squishy). For higher level dungeon, you need to party up with people to complete it as you can't take all the damage from mobs with the pot cooling down in this game is long

However, for any dungeons, you are not encouraged to solo. Party up to do things always get things done faster and makes your life easier, that's called efficiency. Unless you wanna create a record or something :S Afterall, everyone gets the same amount of money and exp and random number of boxes for each dungeon run, so it's not bad to party up with people to complete it.

Skill point can't be reset at high level. You need to purchase skill reset from the cash shop (using real world money). So, do spend your skill points wisely. Afterall, level 10 is still a very low level and you can always re-create your character if you ever mess up with it. And joining guild does help you to find a good dungeon party easily.

You can join Hideko's guild, he's on the olympus side.

Oh yea, a sidenote over here, if you are new to the game, welcome to join olympus. I'm not too sure whether the existing titan players are still playing this game or already moved to Iris Online. So, if you want to meet more Malaysians, you are always welcomed to join Olympus. As for now in LYN forum, I only know Hideko has his own guild with a bunch of active people.

I'm an honest player, and I give honest comment as I don't side on any games that I'm playing. Even if I like this game, I'm not going to say all the good things and left out the bad ones, so that you can have an overview of what you are going to be expecting. I'm not going to touch on the graphics nor society part as for the graphics part, there are lots of screenshots and you know for a global server, what kind of society you will encounter.

Leveling
Leveling is pretty easy when you can get into a party for repeatable quest. Mobs at the fields don't drop good stuff so you normally party up with people to kill mobs at the field so that more people are working on the same repeatable quest, you get things done faster. The game just launched exactly 2 months ago and even non-hardcore players also can reach level 40 (current cap level). My mean of non-hardcore is that you spend roughly 2 to 3 hours on weekdays and spend like 6 hours on weekends.

War/Realm versus Realm
2 factions basically, olympus and titan. The war can be fun actually and the concept is the same as other mmorpg like capturing flags while here you capture crystals. But, if you wanna compare it to a large scale war which involves castle and the use of catapult and ballista, no, this game doesn't have all these. So, the war can be quite plain at the end. Depends on individual though really, you want a simple war, this is for you. You want a war that you can conquer castle, develop your castle, enhance your castle defense and put up catapult and ballista, no, this is not the game and I hardly imagine this game will come up with this.

Dungeon
To be more specific, I'm going to use the general term being used in other mmorpg, I will call this an instance. You are given 5 bronze coins per day and per char and use one bronze coin per entry. You form a party up to a maximum of 6 people to enter the instance. And yes, you can choose your party member. Of course there is pro and con of being able to choose or not being able to choose your own member. There are some people (not all) in game who actually prefers only high level people or people with better gears (highly upgraded gears) in their party which simply kills the fun, this happens mostly in higher level instance/dungeon. It is unlike Fiesta Online where you join a kingdom quest (instance) and be placed with random people, so there will be no choice but to take up the challenge to succeed the whole instance/dungeon run. People these days seldom wanna take up challenge, they often want you to gear up well (well in a sense that you need to have highly upgraded gears). Of course this issue can be solved if you join a friendly guild who is willing to take you into dungeon and explore the fun together.

many people feel the lag as well, and the lag is horrible between 8pm to 12am our time, sometimes till 2am or something...

For RvR or normal PvE, no problem.
For dungeon run, assassin doesn't have AOE skill, so a bit hard to clear huge crowd of mobs. It is better to have more AOE classes for dungeon run.
