Hi, after owning my M2 for 7 months, only now i find this thread. Mind to have me join you?

i have a white sedan R spec, from Ipoh.

i am using RON95 running around 400km for every RM60. FC is around 7.8L/100km. i do the same as shlimmm in the morning, start for ~1min then drive slow until blue indicator goes off. i have just hit 18K km few days ago, i think going for 3rd service soon.

My friend also own an M2 changed all tyres after abt 1 month. He said the original tyres are quite easy to crack. One of his happened so & therefore he changed to Continental. Price almost same with Dunlop, but i didnt ask whether it's 195/45 or 205/45.

Myself also ran thru potholes few times (yes, thanks to our lovely gov creating those holes for better economy.....force us repair car ) lucky the car stays intact. But plastic sound here & there inside cockpit......annoying

Anyone have idea whether power retractable side mirror for M2 is available in Malaysia? How much roughly it costs? Would installing it void the warranty?

I also have to pay for the oil & part, i only get free labour for servicing. I use fully synthetic oil.
Has anyone aldy change the air filter? How is it (K&N?) ? If i do it not in bulk but individually would it very costly?

Yes shlimmm, pls put me in the list. I really wish to gain horsepower for my M2. Btw, i am in ipoh, i get it from u in KL and no problem to install on my own? And it's nothing to affect the Mazda warranty, right?

SC Ipoh put my 2nd service at 10K km instead of 11K km. I dun thk the 1K km differ much, shud be fine. In fact i did the 2nd service at 10.7K km, almost 11K km. I am now at 18.7K km, soon will go for 3rd service.

Mine too.......when running on bumpy road or rougher road, plastic sound start come from dashboard near speedometer.

I have also encountered plastic knocking sound not long after getting my car. I was so annoyed & keep on searching for the sound source....later i found it's from the passenger seat back adjust handle. The handle is not in contact with the seat body (plastic) but hanging at few mm gap. When driving on rougher road or bumpy road, it'd be like the Morse code transmitter....tuck.. tuck..... tuck tuck...knocking the seat plastic. I am now putting a pc of paper filling the gap to avoid this annoying sound. Anyone experience same problem?

If hanging around the city, normally 1 or 2 Mazda2 seen in Ipoh. And Mazda3 also getting quite popular nowadays over here. Instead Mazda6, i saw quite a number of CX-9 on the road.

The blinking final bar should last ~30km before blinking "E" (final bar also disappear). SA told me blinking "E" may still last ~15km but i dare not try, normally when final bar start to blink i will refill within 20km.

Going 3rd service (20K km) next Monday. Hey, like to share something with all of u......becareful of the gap at handbrake. I accidentally drop a coin inside it thru the gap of handbrake. So far no problem but i duno what would be later. I ask SC help me take it out during coming service. They say could be quite difficult, if too much job may have to charge me....too bad

Mine also 12~13km/litre. Most time city drive (many traffic lights), occasionally smoother drive (but not highway, just lesser traffic lights). Anyway i pickup at traffic light is more uncle than uncle style....lol.....is aldy ah pek style. I experience one thing; when pick up at traffic light, i release brake & keep ~1 second interval before step on throttle, it's more powerful, can feel the push.

Just done my 3rd service at Ipoh SC on Monday. They manage to remove the coin from handbrake slot, no extra charge. But plastic sound at dashboard after disappearing for 1 day, yesterday came back already. Look like i have to accept it, although it really annoys me

Oh isit? Let me try tonight. Hope it works.....Btw i kinda hearing more and more weird sound (but softer, i cant really locate it) when driving on rough or bumpy roads. All seem like come from far inner part. Thanks to our "super nice" road condition that brings me this annoying experience.

Anyway, it was my carelessness when taking coin from left pocket, a 20sen coin slipped thru my fingers & fall nicely into the handbrake slot. In fact i find another problem on cleaning the handbrake is the tiny gap that is hardly reachable with cloth always collect dust, unless we use cotton bud carefully clean it.

Happy New Year!! Eeehhhh, though i am a bit late

The past few days really drive a lot, going here and there in the city. But thanks to our bad road surface, my dashboard plastic sound all come back after tortured by the bumpy roads. Now is worse, more noise than before my 3rd service, even heard metal plate shaking sound occasionally...... i kinda give up. hope u guys out there dun face the same problem.

Btw, rainy days have keep me busy washing my white baby......good exercise, even late in the midnight. Hope i din annoy my neighbours...hehe

During the holidays, i saw quite many Mazda on the road in Ipoh. Mostly Mazda3. Also few times i am side by side with Wilayah plate M2. Mayb it was one of u here in Ipoh

Still no power retractable side mirror available. I am waiting for Mazda original to prevent the void of warranty.

So far my M2 is ok, only at during the time between 1st & 2nd service it happen steering shaft problem. I went to SC few times, 1st repair didnt last long, problem come back again. 3rd repair SC replaced an improved version for me then problem solved.

As i mentioned earlier, the problem annoys me is the plastic sound on dashboard. No matter how i do the noise is not going away. SC also tried but still the same. Now even metal shaking sound is heard inside dashboard. I feel bad when someone in my car ask me why my new car not even 1 year aldy heard this kind of weird noise, even proton may not happen like this.......

My steering was heard & felt with slight knocking (kook kook kook...) when making sharp turn, especially when doing parking in low speed. Ipoh SC (Chin 3S) told me there were 6 other M2 facing the same problem and Mazda was sending from Japan some improved version steering shafts to solve our problem (during my 3rd repair). The 1st time SC repaired for me by tightening the steering shaft & rack. But after i drive for a week the knocking sound came back. 2nd repair they change a repaired unit for me, but still not last long. Until the 3rd repair, a new improved version shaft installed & the problem eliminated.

I believe this is a different case from your steering problem where u feel it's getting harder. I didnt experience a harder steering when my steering got knocking sound problem.

tehmicheal84 did mentioned it in page 31 (post#617). he bought 2 bottles from mazda singapore and got johor car wash center touch up for him.

U r welcom shlimmm In fact i also quite interested on it becos i drive on a "desert" road to work where sand & tiny stone fly around when big truck passing by. My M2 is aldy full of tiny holes at front cover & bumper. I hate to drive along this road (& also hate current job ) but at this moment i have no choice.....

Wonder how much the paint costs & how much in a bottle..... may be tehmicheal84 can share with us

I had experience sort of brake failure too during wet day driving on highway, but later SC advice it was ABS in function after i describe the situation. Anyway, i always feel something not so right of the brake. Sometimes i can feel the brake still stuck for a second after i release (that feeling is like u pick up the car with handbrake engaged). Only happen occasionally, that's why i cant get SC to solve for me.

Can u further elaborate your experience? I think this is very important to share with all.
