Dear all M2 owner, would like raise some questions on M2 alarm system.

Is it normal when your door is not closed properly/not closed at all, then you look your car using the alarm, the alarm wont be initiated/making noise/goes off? The alarm will only initiate when after that, somebody poke something into the key hole near to steering (when attempt to steal the car or something)? Also when I used alarm to lock the car then use car key to unlocked it, the alarm doesnt not goes off as well. Is this true??
This info got from a used car sales man, according to him this is what answered by PJ SC.

Appreciate you guys' answer, from the M2 owners themselves.

Thx =)

Encountered one high spec M2, reg March 2010, selling at 66-67k (from used car centre)
Another standard spec with org body kits, fog lamps, side mirror signal indicator, selling at 66k, reg July 2010 (From used car centre also)
Both milleage 6k+

Why would you want to let your M2 go?

Added on January 18, 2011, 11:48 pmJust gone through some UK, HK, Europe post & noticed there is a problem on the alarm for M2. They claimed the alarm will goes off for nothing. Some said Mazda has changed the alarm supplier and this effects worldwide.

Well, hope can hear the response for M2 alarm in MY from you guys soon. The M2 I'm going to get does to goes off for nothing just that it wont sound even is the car is unlocked properly unlike ordinary cars.

TQVM!!

First of all, when your door is not completely closed you cannot lock your doors with the remote. This is normal, at least you will know that one or more of your car doors are not closed properly.

Secondly, the M2 does not come with alarm system (at least my R spec doesn't come with it), it only has an immobilizer system installed by default which the correct car key must be inserted in the key slot before it will start, your key actually contains a unique frequency, a sensor somewhere in the dashboard detects the frequency on your key and upon authenticating, will disarm the immobiliser circuitry to engage the fuel pump and start your car.

Inserting a wrong key will not trigger any alarm, as there are no alarm installed by default, however it will not start with a wrong key as the immobiliser will not disarm.

Did you installed the alarm after purchasing your car? or it comes with the alarm pre-installed?

shocking.gif only drove 6k then sell the car liao??

Nope, it's all original. Then I agree with you, it does not come with the alarm system. I'm getting a used M2, tomorrow collecting. Notice this problem when testing the car (used remote to lock, then used key to manually unlocked -> no alarm. Went to PJ SC request for diagnosis report and service (even if only 6600 mileage, because I need to assure everything), but I forgot to raise this question to them. Then after, the used car sales man told me the remote/alarm thingy is all original. Well, is there any necessity to install an alarm system for M2? I feel a bit awkward w/o alarm ><

Ya, the high spec used M2, the sales man claimed that the owner went overseas and need to sell off the car. Then I found this car on an used car trade website, the owner himself stated he wants to upgrade to others car. One is the discrepancies in the reason of selling off the car. Another one is, I drove the car and I feel superb bouncy and great gliding sounds of tyres & the road surface, might due to the 16" rim. The sales man does not sounds genuine as well. Hence, I decided not to get the car.

I heard from a sales girl in Mazda Taman Megah showroom, there is one used M2 sedan in the market currently (i forgot she said it's silver or metropolitan grey). A lady owner, her customer also, selling away because she changed the whole engine due to a minor flood in damansara. So, guys, becareful of this if you are intended to get a used M2.

Thank you so much for your info on the alarm thingy, it helps a lot =D

Look forward to join you guys after collecting the car tml. Details will be posted tml, when I've officially get the car. =)

Any other car in the market would experience the same. Sell your car within 1st year and you lose at least RM10k-RM15k.
Anything less nobody will buy the 2nd hand car coz they rather get a new model with much lower interest rate. Your monthy installment probably diff by RM50.

Dunno about the rest, but the only reason that will make me sell my M2 now is if i want to get the latest M2 with GPS/DVD unit....muahhahaa...  rclxm9.gif
*
Yeap, thought of the interest rate as well. After compared and taken into all the calculations, at least 12k differ, thus I still decided to get the used M2. At least the car condition is as good as new, low mileage, still under free service & warranty. I personally dont recommend to get a used car aged >3 years. My friend has bad experience with his previous used VW beetle & I believed there's a lot unpleasant stories out there on second hand car.

Wow, you are a rich fella..lol..yeap, the gps/dvd unit is truly tempting wink.gif

hey guys, anyone installed any devices to save on fuel consumption. does it really works?

i've came across this item called "fire storm booster" in a chinese forum. I'm not sure whether can i put the link here, pls inform me if there's any offense so that I'll remove it (http://cforum.cari.com.my/viewthread.php?tid=2123365&extra=page%3D1&page=9) According to the seller, it can save petrol, give more pick up, and even can be a tool for anti-thief purpose. Hmm...

Wonder anyone knows about it? Feel like getting one for my baby M2 but am hesitate. Hmm

This product is only for carb engine.
Fuel injection engine has no use for this as ours is controlled by ECU. Shlimm is correct that remapped ecu or a little modification of air intake and good spark plug as well as good engine oil will safe some fuel. which will be more efficient .
*
how to do that? need to install anything? im quite concern on the fuel consumption sad.gif
good engine oil = full synthetic one?

anyone tried this before? when the car is locked, you used your remote to open the boot, without closing your boot, you go and open one of the car doors (which happened to me because I forgot the car is still locked). And then I heard this sound, sounds like alarm.. But I remember M2 doesnt equipped with alarm system, then what is this sound?

shlimm, pm me too, have to pay extra for the remap thingy? how much?

new M2 has alarm.

I see, all the while I thought my M2 doesnt has alarm. Well, if it has, how come when I use remote to lock the car and unlocked the car with key, the alarm will not sound (usually it will for most of the cars come with alarm)? I have raised this quest before, but others told me M2 has got no alarm.. kinda confused of this alarm thingy.. sad.gif

Well, the KNN filter bulk order ended? Anyone installed it yet? Can share share the efficiency & after-use comments?

K&N filter bulk order ended, waiting for supplier to deliver and install, should be within this 2 weeks. Will let you know the FC once it's installed.

As for your fog lamp, you can send to SC and as for warranty replacement. My tail lamp had water issue as well and they replaced as warranty smile.gif
*
My tail lamp has minor water issue also..visible during rainy days.. Nowadays weather is hot and such problem doesnt exist.. How do I explain to the SC to prove that the tail lamp has this issue? >< Yet for the fog lamps, the water accumulated in it, super magnificent.. Can book for appointment if I were to send to SC? Planned to go to Federal Highway SC

I heard newer batch has removed the front sensor, is this true?

actually, I'm confused. new m2 got alarm or no alarm? As far as I know, there's no alarm. only that irritating high pitch sound.
*
i tried this..when the car is locked, I open the boot with remote, and i go and pull my door handle as i tot the door is already unlocked..then i heard this sound..dont think is just normal high pitch sound..the sound remains until i use my remote to press unlocked button..i think it is alarm sound..if it is not, what sound is this..? sad.gif

Added on February 14, 2011, 8:57 pmand..i really need you guys' comment..
did your passenger seat safety belt reminder gives false remindersss??

i experienced it..twice.. i know the passenger seat is weight-sensored..i did put my files and water on the passenger seat all the while..total weight should not be more than 4kgs (2litre water and less than 1kg papers)..then why the safety belt reminder sounds..? ><

long time nv come in

just did coating for my bb M2 yesterday, looks pretty now =)

good good, hope to hear more feedback for the k&n filter . btw, anyone did ECU? can share a bit?

notice something on my M2, two of the passenger seats window frame (the black plastic thingy positioned vertically, height ~7"). from the passenger seat, can apparently notice it is very sticky (even sticks dusts, hence it is obvious)
anybody has the same issue? for better explanation, i'll try to snap some pictures and upload here >< happens for both of the rear windows
