First of all, when your door is not completely closed you cannot lock your doors with the remote. This is normal, at least you will know that one or more of your car doors are not closed properly.
Secondly, the M2 does not come with alarm system (at least my R spec doesn't come with it), it only has an immobilizer system installed by default which the correct car key must be inserted in the key slot before it will start, your key actually contains a unique frequency, a sensor somewhere in the dashboard detects the frequency on your key and upon authenticating, will disarm the immobiliser circuitry to engage the fuel pump and start your car.
Inserting a wrong key will not trigger any alarm, as there are no alarm installed by default, however it will not start with a wrong key as the immobiliser will not disarm.
Did you installed the alarm after purchasing your car? or it comes with the alarm pre-installed?

only drove 6k then sell the car liao??
Nope, it's all original. Then I agree with you, it does not come with the alarm system. I'm getting a used M2, tomorrow collecting. Notice this problem when testing the car (used remote to lock, then used key to manually unlocked -> no alarm. Went to PJ SC request for diagnosis report and service (even if only 6600 mileage, because I need to assure everything), but I forgot to raise this question to them. Then after, the used car sales man told me the remote/alarm thingy is all original. Well, is there any necessity to install an alarm system for M2? I feel a bit awkward w/o alarm ><
Ya, the high spec used M2, the sales man claimed that the owner went overseas and need to sell off the car. Then I found this car on an used car trade website, the owner himself stated he wants to upgrade to others car. One is the discrepancies in the reason of selling off the car. Another one is, I drove the car and I feel superb bouncy and great gliding sounds of tyres & the road surface, might due to the 16" rim. The sales man does not sounds genuine as well. Hence, I decided not to get the car.
I heard from a sales girl in Mazda Taman Megah showroom, there is one used M2 sedan in the market currently (i forgot she said it's silver or metropolitan grey). A lady owner, her customer also, selling away because she changed the whole engine due to a minor flood in damansara. So, guys, becareful of this if you are intended to get a used M2.
Thank you so much for your info on the alarm thingy, it helps a lot =D
Look forward to join you guys after collecting the car tml. Details will be posted tml, when I've officially get the car. =)

Dun think u want the option to open the boot while in any other gear except "P"

Added on January 19, 2011, 1:45 pmAny other car in the market would experience the same. Sell your car within 1st year and you lose at least RM10k-RM15k.
Anything less nobody will buy the 2nd hand car coz they rather get a new model with much lower interest rate. Your monthy installment probably diff by RM50.
Dunno about the rest, but the only reason that will make me sell my M2 now is if i want to get the latest M2 with GPS/DVD unit....muahhahaa...

Yeap, thought of the interest rate as well. After compared and taken into all the calculations, at least 12k differ, thus I still decided to get the used M2. At least the car condition is as good as new, low mileage, still under free service & warranty. I personally dont recommend to get a used car aged >3 years. My friend has bad experience with his previous used VW beetle & I believed there's a lot unpleasant stories out there on second hand car.
Wow, you are a rich fella..lol..yeap, the gps/dvd unit is truly tempting
