im wondering, for non-Byond Astro users, the decoders certainly supports YPbPr composite cable. will the image quality improve if one uses a YPbPr (composite cable) to HDMI converter and connect it to a LCD TV? i mean, of course it wont beat the image quality of direct HDMI, but maybe much better than s-cable?

so what is the purpose you want to convert from RCA to HDMI in to tv.?

for better picture quality ? or becoz only 1 RCA input of your tv ?

there are many other ways to connect if only 1 RCA input of your tv...

don't think by using YPbPr (composite cable) to HDMI convertor will improve the picture quality.
S-video is good enough for Astro already.
Astro actually use higher video compression compare to DVD movie. (this is what i believe)

the problem is not to improve PQ, it is the lack of ports.

you can improve PQ if you get a good scaler, like the DVDO Edge

my tv only have 1 component line in and i already used it for a game console. i've subsribed to astro but cant take the b.yond package coz my condo uses centralized dish, which doesnt support byond yet. and the mngmt office does not allow any resident to drill individual satelite dish.

the decoder astro gave me is the byond decoder and it doesnt have any s-cable port. its either av cable, component or hdmi. i tried the hdmi cable, but it wont work. i guess bcoz my astro package isnt byond.

so i thought, since i ran out of component port, i might just use the tv's hdmi ports (it has 4 hdmi ports). since im at it, i might just improve the PQ too

ah right... improving the PQ is dependent on the amount of $ you throw at the problem smile.gif the DVDO has the best scaler chip (Anchorbay VRS) but there are even better models of DVDO compared to the US$500 DVDO-Edge

There's always Vigatec S1, but that is if you are ready to pay the hefty price EUR11k
